Less than FIVE days remain until the next fuel and diesel price rise, and signs are that South African motorists will have reason to cheer.
While it is too early to precisely anticipate what will happen to diesel and gasoline prices in January 2023, the most recent data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) – as of December 28 – indicates positive indicators.
Fluctuations in foreign product pricing and rand weakness have already revealed the following overrecoveries – and, consequently, price reductions:

If current market conditions remain over the next few days, both gasoline and diesel drivers can anticipate a reduction in January 2023.
If the situation remains unchanged, the price of gasoline (93) and 95 octane will reduce by approximately R1.84 and R1.85, respectively.
Diesel, meanwhile, would experience a steeper decline, with 0.05% falling by R2.47 and 0.005% falling by R2.59.
