Former Minister Chris Obure declared not guilty

Former Permanent Secretaries of Transport and Communication Sammy Kyungu and Finance Secretary Samuel Bundotich were also acquitted in the case in which they were involved.

The three were accused of authorizing the use of Sh928 million in a postal company security project.

The prosecution did not produce enough evidence to condemn them, according to Trial Magistrate Ann Mwangi.

According to her, the trio did not personally profit from the cash, as evidenced by their defense attorneys.

She added that the offender was acquitted due to a lack of evidence.

Outside of court, Obure praised the trial court for carefully weighing the facts presented by the prosecution and defense attorneys and reaching a reasonable judgment.

He said that the matter lost him the Kisii governorship in 2017, but that now that the truth has been exposed, he is free to go about his business.
