Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has shared his thoughts on the portfolio assignments of ministerial appointees by President Bola Tinubu.

This comes after the President released the ministerial portfolios for nominees recently confirmed by the Senate.

Notably, former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, was appointed as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister.

Additionally, former Governor of Jigawa State, Mohammed Badaru, was designated as the Minister of Defence, and Bello Mattawale, the immediate past governor of Zamfara State, was appointed as the Minister of State, Defense.

Senator Shehu Sani took to his Twitter page to express his opinion on this development.

He highlighted that the Minister of Defence position should ideally be occupied by a retired military officer with a solid background of experience and accomplishments.

Given the prevailing security challenges in the country, Senator Sani emphasized that this role should not be solely political, particularly in the current circumstances.

Reno Omokri’s Reaction to Nyesom Wike’s Appointment as FCT Minister

Former presidential media aide, Reno Omokri, has also weighed in on the announcement of Nyesom Wike’s appointment as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The list of ministerial portfolios was unveiled, revealing Wike’s appointment as the FCT Minister.

Reno Omokri noted that this marks the first instance in decades where a Southerner has been chosen for this position.

The last time a non-Northerner held the role was in 1976 when Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, a Southerner, was appointed by General Olusegun Obasanjo.

Furthermore, Reno Omokri pointed out the absence of an appointment for an original indigene of the Federal Capital Territory in ministerial positions.

There were expectations that Zephaniah Jisalo, a nominee from the FCT, would be appointed to the position, but this did not materialize.

Omokri lamented this situation, highlighting the historical significance and the unique circumstances surrounding the appointments.

In conclusion, both Senator Shehu Sani and Reno Omokri have shared their viewpoints on the recent ministerial appointments made by President Bola Tinubu.
