The Flour Mills of Nigeria (FMN) Innovation Prize aspires to recognise new and creative ideas to achieve sustainability in Nigeria’s food value chain.
This year’s campaign seeks to encourage the development of local content in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied sectors in order to enhance sustainable food production. Participants in this year’s challenge will develop one-of-a-kind solutions to encourage a paradigm shift away from dependence on imported raw materials and toward improving local capabilities to support local people.

- Category 1: Registered Businesses (Micro, Small & Medium Scale Enterprise Owners)
- Category 2: Nigerian Students (Undergraduates & Post Graduates)

Category 1: Registered Businesses (Micro, Small & Medium Scale Enterprise Owners)
- Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria that work in the agro-processing and food producing sectors.
- Your big idea and innovative solution should address a move away from reliance on imported raw materials and toward a focus on local content consumption in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied industry.
- Your project should have a strong proof-of-concept, a social or commercial goal, and a clear path to scalability.
Category 2: Nigerian Students (Undergraduate and postgraduate level)
- Your big idea and innovative solution must address a move away from reliance on imported raw materials and toward a focus on local content consumption in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied industry.
- Your project has a strong proof-of-concept as well as a social or commercial purpose.

- Stand the chance of winning the star prize of N5 million.

All entries will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
- Ingenuity of the ideas
- Social/commercial purpose of the idea
- Thoroughness of research
- Impact & Scalability
- Likelihood of the success of the enterprise
How to Apply for Flour Mills of Nigeria Prize for Innovation
- Complete the form by January 5, 2023.
- Upload a 60-second video and a brief presentation on your innovative strategies for local content development in the food and agro-allied industries.
- Your presentation should clearly demonstrate how your concept would promote the utilisation of local content across the Nigerian food value chain.
- Your submission must be supported by evidence of registration for Category 1 candidates.
- Participants are urged to share their contributions on social media by following and tagging @FMNGroup and encouraging their friends to engage the post.
