Authorities said Wednesday that a Florida man reportedly shot and killed his pregnant girlfriend only days after being cleared of two counts of murder.

Eight days after shooting Alana Sims to death, Tampa police detectives charged Billy Adams, the accused perpetrator, with first-degree murder and murdering an unborn child.

According to WFLA, Sims, who was just 22 years old, was shot and killed in front of her automobile. The incident happened with her little boy inside the car, but he was unharmed.

According to the story, Adams and Sims were allegedly dating.

According to Fox 13, Adams, 25, was cleared of murdering two men on Jan. 27—just a few days before he was accused of killing Sims, the man who detectives believe to be the child’s father.

Before shots were fired, the victim believed she was headed to a party for Adams to celebrate his not-guilty judgment, according to Tampa Police Major Michael Stout, according to the news station. According to Stout, Adams’ apparent motivation was that he wasn’t ready to become a father.

The alleged act perpetrated by Adams, according to Tampa Interim Police Chief Lee Bercaw, is “unthinkable.”

He expressed his hope that the victim’s family, who is grieving the death of two loved ones, will find some comfort in this arrest. To make sure the suspect is prosecuted to the greatest extent of the law, we are collaborating with the State Attorney’s Office.

Susan Lopez, the state’s attorney, referred to the first trial in her statement that the suspect’s acts were “unimaginable.”

While respecting the jury’s decision in the earlier case, Lopez said in a statement, “We disagreed with it and that is why we charged him. To hold him accountable for these most recent offenses, “We will continue to engage with (Tampa police).”

Adams apparently acknowledged to firing the gun in the deadly shooting, according to Stout, the police major, but did not express any regret for it.

According to Fox 13, Stout said, “I didn’t find him sorry in seeing my investigators execute the interview, no.”
