First bus of migrants sent from Texas by Governor Greg Abbott arrives in New York City

Greg Abbott’s first busload of migrants from Texas landed in New York City on Friday morning.

In video obtained by Fox News, the party was seen being dropped off at Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan after traveling over 2,000 miles from the border.

Before the about 50 migrants, primarily men, entered the city, a group of volunteers and charity workers welcomed them.

Now, migrants who have recently crossed from Central America, have been processed, and are awaiting their immigration court dates can be dropped off in New York City alongside Washington, D.C.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser stated last week that the buses are producing a “humanitarian crisis” in the nation’s capital. The Biden administration has accused Republican states of using migrants as a “political gimmick.”

To help with the more than 5,000 migrants who have been transferred to Washington, D.C., she summoned the National Guard.

‘Because of President Biden’s continued refusal to acknowledge the crisis caused by his open border policies, the State of Texas has had to take unprecedented action to keep our communities safe,’ said Governor Abbott.

‘In addition to Washington, D.C., New York City is the ideal destination for these migrants, who can receive the abundance of city services and housing that Mayor Eric Adams has boasted about within the sanctuary city.

‘I hope he follows through on his promise of welcoming all migrants with open arms so that our overrun and overwhelmed border towns can find relief.’

Adams declined Abbott’s offer to accompany him and Bowser to the border to witness the issue firsthand.

Adams called for federal intervention last Monday as a significant surge of refugees puts a strain on New York City’s shelter system and declared a city-wide emergency.

Since May, about 4,000 asylum applicants have arrived in New York City, according to Adams’ office.

“New York is a city of immigrants, thus newcomers are always welcome here.” Over the past two months, we have seen a significant increase in the number of asylum seekers arriving in our city’s shelter system,’ Adams said in a statement.

A group of charity workers and volunteers greeted the roughly 50 migrants, who were mostly men, before they ventured into the citySince at least last month, he had been contacting the Biden administration for assistance.

In the statement released on Monday, Adams promised to “continue to work with federal and state partners to secure additional financial resources promptly” to help with the influx.

Adams criticized Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and Texas Governor Greg Abbott for their bussing orders during a press conference on July 21. She called them “heartless.”

Six migrants who were on a terror watch list were among the 240,991 migrants who were apprehended crossing the border in June.

Although there was a 14% decrease from May, the spike of crossings over the previous year shattered all previous records.

A judge has ordered the president to continue enforcing Title 42, a Trump-era COVID policy that saw migrants deported immediately back to Mexico, despite Biden’s continued efforts to overturn it.

In June, 26% of all border crossers had attempted to do so in the previous year, up from the typical 15% between 2014 and 2019, according to CBP.

The largest group to come through was single adults, making up 68 percent of the crossing, with 140,197 people.

A total of 207,416 migrants were encountered at the US southern border in June 2022
