Fearing Iran assassination, cosmetics heir lobbied Trump to buy Greenland

According to a new book, former President Trump received the idea to acquire Greenland from old college buddy Ronald Lauder.

Late-night TV and the internet mocked the concept as a Trump whim, but the former president had examined it privately and consulted his National Security Council.

After Lauder, the wealthy heir of Estee-Lauder, suggested it to Trump, he told his national security advisor, ‘A very, really experienced businessman believes we can acquire Greenland.’

“Your thoughts?” – Trump

This and other shocking Trump disclosures are in a forthcoming book by New York Times top White House reporter Peter Baker and New Yorker staff writer Susan Glasser.

Lauder mentioned the proposal early in his presidency and promised to talk with Denmark. The Danes disagreed.

Many bewildered aides sought to steer Trump off the route and avert a leak of the idea out of concern of a diplomatic catastrophe.

The former president told the book’s writers that purchasing the region wouldn’t have been ‘that different’ from his Trump Organization real estate deals.

After Lauder, the wealthy heir of Estee-Lauder, suggested it to Trump, he told his national security advisor, ‘A very, really experienced businessman believes we can acquire Greenland.’

I asked, “Why not?” “Greenland,” Trump said.

You study a map. As a developer, I look at a corner and think, ‘I need that shop for my building,’ etc. Not much changed.

The project finally came apart amid widespread mockery, which Trump joined in on on Twitter: ‘I vow not to do this to Greenland!’ he said, along with a picture showing rural Greenland with a giant glass Trump skyscraper slammed in the centre.

The former president was apparently so anxious that Iran would retaliate for the US execution of its top commander, Qasem Soleimani, that he informed guests at a Mar-a-Lago Christmas party in 2020 that he was departing early out of fear of an assassination attempt.

Trump stated this during a rally in Toledo, Ohio. Bad person. Bloodthirsty terrorist, no longer a terrorist. Died.’

In private, he feared the repercussions and told pals he needed to return to Washington where he would be’safer.’

Trump allegedly told others around him that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was an example of why women should be cautious with cosmetic surgery and that he wouldn’t choose Nikki Haley as a running partner because she had a ‘complexion issue’

In other parts, Trump called his son-in-law Jared Kushner a ‘New York liberal crowd.’

Melania Trump informed her husband he was ‘blowing’ the US COVID-19 response, a source said Wednesday.

The book says the former first lady was’shaken by coronavirus and felt [Donald] Trump was messing up.

Melania allegedly told longtime Trump supporter Chris Christie that she told her husband, ‘You’re blowing this.’ She asked Christie to help Trump take the epidemic more seriously.

She informed him, ‘This is serious.’ It’ll be horrible, so take it more seriously.’

The book says he ignored her.

Trump said, “You worry too much.” “Nevermind.”

Trump’s senior general, Joint Chiefs Chair Mark Milley, feared the ex-president might authorise an assault on Iran as he left office.

One of Trump’s workers reportedly offered him the idea.

The book alleges Milley asked his workers, “What the f*** are they talking about?”

The ex-president has worried his aides about national security before.

After Trump sided with Vladimir Putin despite US intelligence agencies that accused the Kremlin of interfering in American elections, the national intelligence director privately questioned the two presidents’ relationship.

I couldn’t decide. Then-DNI Dan Coats reportedly asked, “What does Putin have on him to undercut his credibility?”

Trump’s offer of the West Bank to Jordan’s King Abdullah II reportedly made the king think he was suffering a heart attack.

Trump’s international skills were acknowledged by late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s Nobel Peace Prize candidacy, but the book alleges the ex-president pushed that, too.

‘The President begged Abe over dinner to nominate him,’ a former Trump adviser told the writers.

Messages from senior Trump officials reveal a chaotic White House during the 2018 midterms.

First time I’m terrified about the nation. Former Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen tweeted, “Insanity has been unleashed.”

She stated Trump’s Defense, Education, and Labor secretaries were threatening to quit.

The former president did not specify whether he will run in 2024 but ruled out running with Mike Pence.

Pence failed to stop Congress from certifying Trump’s 2020 loss.

Trump said that would be improper. Mike committed political suicide by not accepting bad votes.
