FAW Trucks is a 29-year veteran of South Africa’s commercial vehicle industry

Johannesburg, 2022: This year, FAW Trucks will mark 29 years in South Africa, during which time they have established themselves as a mainstay of the country’s commercial vehicle market.

With variants in the extra-heavy, heavy, medium, and light commercial market categories, FAW Trucks takes pleasure in providing a range of vehicles that are reliable and outstanding value for the money.

As a result of the use of their trucks in the construction of schools, hospitals, and the everyday transportation of essential products, they have won the hearts of South Africans.

FAW Trucks are locally produced to meet regional needs.

FAW Trucks has always been dedicated to South Africa and its people ever since it was first introduced here. This was supported by a choice made in 2012 to make a local investment and establish a manufacturing facility in Coega, Gqberha (formerly Port Elizabeth).

This was one of the biggest investments made by a Chinese corporation in South Africa at the time.

The factory, which cost R600 million to construct and has a 30 000m2 footprint, includes a body shop and a paint shop as well as a cutting-edge training facility. The first car drove off the production line in 2014, and they haven’t looked back since.

The FAW Trucks manufacturing plant is a significant employer in the Eastern Cape, giving people of the nearby Gqberha township a significant number of jobs at both its own facility and those of the local suppliers it depends on.

The 8000th domestically produced vehicle drove off the FAW Trucks Coega production line earlier this year, demonstrating the facility’s continued growth.

Due to its reputation for providing high-quality goods that can meet the specific use needs of South African commercial vehicle consumers, FAW Trucks has seen phenomenal development.

The existence of a nearby manufacturing site gives them the opportunity to quickly improve that product, which is a significant advantage. FAW has created a brand that consistently beats its key rivals on the sales charts by letting its goods speak for themselves.

Outstanding value for the money

FAW Trucks continues to offer local buyers a selection of vehicles that have the durability and longevity to survive in the demanding South African working environment while at the same time being affordable both in terms of purchase price and total cost of ownership in a market that is facing enormous pressure from external factors like rising interest rates, fuel prices, and global supply chain constraints.

The FAW Trucks product line continues to deliver good value for the money by meeting those goals.

“From our 29-year local history, the FAW 13.160 flat nose model introduction in 1999, the J5 debut in 2005, and the launch of the 8.140FL in 2015 stand out.

This type was essential to FAW Trucks’ emergence as a major force, notably in the commercial vehicle market’s heavy truck class. A proud tradition it is, says FAW Trucks South Africa CEO Yongjun Li.

South Africans are renowned for casting their votes with their money, and they have no trouble supporting FAW’s commercial vehicle offering.

The Chinese company gained the top place in the Heavy Commercial section of the South African market for the first time in the first quarter of 2021, and to this day they have continued to retain a solid footing in the industry by consistently outselling some of the more well-known brands.

29 years of happy customers

When it comes to client pleasure and retention, after sales is crucial. In the commercial vehicle category of the NADA Dealer Satisfaction Survey in 2018, FAW Trucks won the Most Improved Medal.

Since then, they have consistently ranked favourably, most recently winning a silver award. The development and viability of a brand depend on the manufacturer-dealer connection, which is evaluated in this study.
