The investigation involves a fatal road traffic collision and serious disorder.

Yesterday at 6:03 pm, we received a report about a severe collision on Snowden Road, which sadly resulted in the deaths of two teenage boys.

The families of the two boys are receiving support from family liaison officers, and our thoughts are with them during this terrible time.

As part of the investigation, an electric bike found at the scene has been seized, and we are actively pursuing inquiries to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

We have obtained CCTV footage that captures a police vehicle following a bike shortly before 6 pm.

This footage is currently being recovered as part of our investigation to help us understand the events leading up to the collision.

We are ensuring that the families are kept informed of any updates.

We can confirm that based on our investigations thus far, there were no police vehicles present on Snowden Road at the time of the collision.

However, a police vehicle from Grand Avenue responded to the collision report, arrived at the scene, and the officers provided CPR.

The investigation has involved a careful examination of CCTV footage and tracking data from the police vehicle involved.

At this stage, we do not believe that any other vehicle was involved in the collision.

During the disorder that followed the collision, 15 officers sustained injuries and required medical attention.

Eleven officers were taken to the hospital, while four received treatment at the scene.

Our primary focus now is to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and the disturbing events that unfolded afterwards.
