The Virginia Fairfax County School Board is preparing to pass a controversial sexual education policy this month, despite significant opposition from parents, teachers, and students.

The proposed policy aims to combine sex education classes for boys and girls in grades four through eight.

However, when the school board conducted a survey to gauge approval for the new policy, it revealed that 85% of parents, 85% of teachers, and 62% of students opposed it.

Despite the survey results, the school board pushed for a vote, demonstrating that parents only matter if they help the county accomplish its ideological agenda.

Unfortunately, this behavior is not new for the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), which has been Ground Zero for the education culture war sweeping the country.

Over the past two years, FCPS has advanced a radically progressive agenda across racial and sexual lines.

Its school curricula teach students that they are different from and biased against each other because of their skin color.

The school board has spent $455,000 on a consulting firm committed to “equal outcomes, without exception,” promoted the book “Woke Kindergarten” to five-year-olds, and suspended students whose parents sent them to school without masks, even after Gov. Glenn Youngkin lifted the state mandate.

FCPS not only divides students against each other but also against their parents. The school district instructs teachers to transition a child’s gender without parental consent or notification.

While schools won’t distribute ibuprofen to students without their parent’s consent, they help students assume an entirely new social identity.

FCPS is so committed to this ideology that when Youngkin issued new guidance requiring schools to obtain parental consent before transitioning students and separate school sports teams by biological sex, the county publicly defied him.

In one school, a teacher even encouraged students to walk out of school to protest the governor’s guidelines, conveying that attending school was less important than political activism, particularly activism opposing parents’ rights.

FCPS’ defiance towards Youngkin is striking enough on its own.

Still, it is especially egregious in light of new reports showing FCPS’ top public school, Thomas Jefferson High School, cooperated with Chinese-military-linked organizations to improve Chinese schools.

When confronted, school officials defended their actions as “not unusual,” demonstrating that parental notification is outrageous, but China’s well-documented human-rights abuses are palatable.

While FCPS is a good example of such radical activism, it is hardly alone. States across the country are filled with similar policies and activism.

Parents Defending Education recently documented 169 districts, almost 6,000 schools, where teachers are instructed to hide student gender transitions from parents.

Racial and sexual ideology exists in every state, and parents report new instances of such ideology daily. This is a national problem.

Despite these issues, the tide is turning, and victories are occurring in the district after district across the country.

School board elections are ousting incumbents, schools are revamping curriculum, and contracts with equity consultants are being cancelled.

CNN or the networks may not report these discrete wins over the last two years, but they are happening.

Parents Defending Education and its colleagues look forward to the day when they won’t have to scan their children’s homework for words like “equity” and “gender identity” or graphic descriptions of sex acts.

Thousands of parents across the country feel the same way.

As long as activists are determined to turn schools into cultural battlegrounds like in Fairfax County, enlisting children as foot soldiers in their war against America, they will continue to fight.

As the saying goes, “If not me, who? If not now, when?”
