A 32-year-old non-profit founder found fatally shot in his Fairfax, Virginia home that he shared with his wife and two young children

A 32-year-old non-profit founder was discovered shot to death on Friday in the house he shared with his wife and two young children in Fairfax, Virginia. His wife says he was shot by an intruder.

Gret Glyer, the founder of the charitable organization DonorSee, was discovered dead with mysterious gunshot wounds inside his Bolton Village Court residence at around three in the morning on Friday.

Police were unable to confirm the location of the shooting, but on Tuesday they revealed to DailyMail.com that his death on Saturday had been ruled a homicide.

According to police, it is Fairfax’s first homicide in 14 years. The couple had only lived in the area for six months.

While at home at the time of the shooting, his wife Heather and their two young children Gryphon and Gailiee, aged 6 and 22 months, were unharmed.

According to police and radio dispatch recordings, Heather reportedly dialed 911 and told officers that she had heard a loud noise and thought her husband had been killed by an intruder.

‘She heard a loud noise and believes her husband has been shot. She believes someone came into the house,’ a dispatcher said, according to Fox 5 DC.

Due to the fact that the investigation is “very active,” Fairfax Police were unable to confirm to DailyMail.com whether or not Heather is a suspect in the case at this time. No one could get in touch with Heather for comment.

According to Fox News, the family’s next-door neighbor heard three gunshots.

Although Fairfax police claim there is no longer a “threat to the community,” Gerald Searles, 54, who lives next door, claims he and others are on edge as a result of the shooting.

‘We definitely are just being a little bit more vigilant about just keeping our eyes and ears open,’ he told Fox 5 DC. ‘I don’t think many people saw or heard anything at that time in the morning, but we definitely are just taking precautions and doing what’s necessary to feel more comfortable.’

The backdoor of the house was open, Fairfax police confirmed to Fox 5 DC, but they did not say whether they had observed any indications of forced entry.

There is no information on whether any weapons were found at the scene, and police have not named any suspects.

For funeral costs as well as to ‘provide for his wife and children,’ a GoFundMe has been set up.

The page quickly reached its new $150,000 goal and quickly exceeded its initial $50,000 goal. As of Tuesday afternoon, $115,000 has been raised.

Additionally, a $75,000 fundraising campaign was started on Glyer’s own website DonorSee, and as of Tuesday afternoon, $48,000 had been raised.

‘Everyone at DonorSee has heavy hearts today and we grieve the loss of our inspirational Founder Gret,’ the website read.

‘As many of you will know, Gret lived his life in the pursuit of helping others. He has left a legacy that will live on through DonorSee of changing the world for the better and helping those who need it most. He is a shining light that inspired those he met, and many more he did not meet.’

Glyer set up DonorSee in 2016 – three years after he had moved to Malawi, Africa, and his life was ‘transformed,’ according the company’s website.

‘After filming a number of small projects and asking for fundraising support online, Gret saw the power in facilitating that connection and people’s desire to help,’ it read.

In 2019, the organization raised $1 million in donations, and in 2020 it went global. With more than 100 nonprofit organizations in 38 countries as partners, DonorSee has received more than $3 million in donations.
