DUBAI, 4th July, 2022 (WAM) — Under the theme “Getting Back Together Post the Pandemic”, the MENA Annual Leadership Summit (ALS), organised by Ernst & Young, hosted Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and The Future, together with 400 leading figures from the region and the world.
Ohood Al Roumi stated that the UAE fosters global cooperation to re-design government work models and build a better future for societies. The UAE government has developed a state-of-the-art development model based on the concepts of openness, tolerance and diversity.
This model has supported the UAE’s march towards the future leveraging availed opportunities and future potential.
She added that the UAE’s wise leadership has adopted the “UAE’s 10 Principles for the Next 50 Years,” which aim to build national talent, develop human capital, boost global economic relations, promote national advanced industries, as well as develop new economic sectors. The UAE also focuses on international cooperation with governments worldwide, and has thus launched the Government Experience Exchange Programme, which includes 18 countries working in in 45 areas of collaboration.
Al Roumi further referred to the UAE’s success in combating the Covid-19 pandemic over the past two years, where the government’s initiatives acted as catalysts for enhancing the country’s agility and future readiness. Through its flawless methodology, the UAE managed to secure its leading position on more than 100 indices globally, and 500 indices regionally.
Minister Al Roumi pinpointed that the UAE’s achievements include launching the new methodology for federal government action that adopts many change-related tools such as the major transformational projects focusing on speed, agility and achieving results, in addition to updating more than 40 laws in the UAE jurisdiction to support the societal and economic ecosystems.
She also stressed that the future shall include many variables, which deems it necessary to focus on three main pillars, primarily; skills that will change drastically from the current to suit the new requirements imposed by modern technologies. In addition, digital transformation, in which governments need to develop new digital models for government work and conclude fruitful partnerships with the private sector.
Al Roumi commended the cooperation efforts with EY through the Future Partnerships initiative aiming to develop the UAE’s future skills through developing the interactive application “STEM App”, hosting more than 450 innovative training courses in collaboration with 16 universities and international institutions, and reaching more than 50% of the targeted public schools in the UAE and succeeded to attract more than 4,000 school students, out of the 10,000 target.
