Ex-Springboks player wants to deliver a lesson to the CPT abuser

A video of a Cape Town businessman abusing his wife in front of their daughter has drawn angry reactions from social media users, including a former Springboks star.

In the security tape film, the man can be seen striking his wife as she lies in bed. More unsettling was the fact that the man’s daughter could be seen in full view of the camera, observing and attempting to intercede in the violent altercation.

AfriForum released the horrifying video of the man severely hitting his wife on their Twitter account.

The account tweeted, “The cruel reality of gender-based violence has once again been exposed with the release of disturbing CCTV footage showing a man reportedly assaulting his wife while his daughter attempts to defend her.

AfriForum disclosed that they would pursue legal action against the guy on behalf of his wife and children. Because the youngster is a juvenile, the identity of all three individuals will be concealed.

Monday, the man, a successful businessman in Cape Town, appeared before the Belville Magistrate’s Court on assault allegations.

AfriForum further asserts that the man has a history of domestic violence and was previously charged with assaulting his wife. However, the charges were withdrawn after the lady claimed her attorney deemed her “emotionally unfit” to testify against the defendant.

This time, Barry Bateman will not be acting on the woman’s behalf. Additionally, the legal eagle has reopened the inquiry into the past events.

“We will monitor this case closely to ensure that justice is delivered. “We urge victims of gender-based violence to speak out and seek assistance,” Barry stated via AfriForum.

He said, “There will always be someone by your side.”

Additionally, Zeenat Simjee’s photos as a ‘hot’ Springboks nutritionist have gone viral.

As with previous instances of GBV, the public reacted strongly to the viral video.

Springboks icon John Phillip Botha, also known as Bakkies Botha, participated in the social media commentary. The former rugby player responded to the man’s abuse by tweeting, “Bring him to me.”

And Twitter users awarded the former athlete known as “The Enforcer” their stamp of approval….

@Mr Siems1984: “Bakkies will properly “enforce” him.”

@engelbrec15: “Appreciate your words. He will awaken in the hospital and inquire as to whether Chuck Norris struck him. The physician will report that something much worse has occurred.

Yes, so you may fight him man-to-man, replied @ERittuls.
