Eshays react as eight cops pull a man into a police waggon at Kings Cross

Unbelievable video shows the moment a grinning “behemoth” tries to elude at least eight police officers before being coerced into the back of a police vehicle.

The tall man is shown being tackled by cops in the early morning hours of Saturday in Sydney’s east at a tobacconist.

The 28-year-old man, who is believed to be around 6 feet 5 inches tall, struggles with the cops as they try to put him into the back of a paddy truck. He uses his foot to prevent them from shoving him into the cage.

“Keep fighting brother,” are heard being yelled by spectators in Eshay. The cops wrestle the man into the back of the waggon while yelling, “don’t let the piggies grab you,” and playing the role of TV news reporters.

Then, in a last-ditch effort to escape, the man can be heard saying “yes the lads” as he kicks open the rear door from the inside.

Before driving off, the cops force the door shut and lock the man inside.

A group of young eshays give running commentary, with one pretending to be a news reporter while clutching a microphone.

The eshay said, “Just another day in Sydney’s gangland battles.”

A “witness” is questioned by the eshay about the events as they are happening, and he responds, “We’ve seen some coppers, some piggies, pounding the f*** out of some random.”

More than 765,000 people have seen the TikTok video, and many have praised the young man’s journalistic reporting.

A user joked, “Better coverage than 9 News.”

Others expressed their shock at the fact that it required many police officers to apprehend a single man.

One user commented, “Took the full police shop to get him in the vehicle.”

How many officers does it take? said another surprised user.

Others made jokes about the difficulty of the arrest being due to the man’s height in comparison to the gathering of police officers.

Bro look at the size of him, said one user.

Another person asked, “Do they just recruit 4ft police in Sydney or sum [something]?”

A third person said, “The officers seem like Hobbits compared to the man they’re attempting to put in the car.”

According to a statement from the NSW Police Force, police were on patrol in the Potts Point neighbourhood at the time they were sent to Darlinghurst Road at 2:45am on Saturday in response to complaints of an attack on a man.

The 28-year-old man allegedly attacked several officers and resisted arrest, forcing one probationary constable to the ground while inflicting cuts and bruises on others.

The man reportedly damaged the police car’s interior by kicking its rear door.

He was brought to Kings Cross Police Station where he was booked for six offences, including evading arrest, assaulting officers, damaging property, and affray.

The 28-year-old man will appear in Downing Center Local Court on Tuesday after being granted conditional release.
