Elon Musk has announced that Tesla will be moving its engineering headquarters from Texas back to northern California less than two years after the move to Texas.
The announcement was made during a press conference with California Governor Gavin Newsom.
Musk described the move as a “poetic transition” while stating that Tesla’s corporate headquarters will remain in Texas.
However, not all of Tesla’s operations will be centred in California, as the company’s corporate headquarters will remain in Texas.
Tax incentives could be the reason for the move, as Newsom and the state of California have supported Tesla over the years.
Musk predicts that some 600,000 vehicles will be manufactured at Tesla’s factory in Fremont, California, over the next year.
