EKSU Declares Academic Activities Will Resume

The Vice Chancellor and other Principal Officers, Provosts, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, Professors, and Officers on grade level 14 and above met with stakeholders at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, on Sunday, August 21, 2022, to discuss the university’s position.

Stakeholders emphasized both the parents’ plea and the economical effects of the current strike action by the University’s staff unions on other stakeholders (parents, students, alumni, and staff). Additionally, it was claimed that the strike was having a bad effect on both the University and the students. Here are a few instances:

Among other problems, the staff’s failure to fulfill their financial commitments, the excessive extension of the academic year and student stay on campus, the low level of support from applicants for admission to the university, and the inability to pay employee wages.

After much discussion during the meeting, it was decided that all staff employees who are presently on strike at the university must resume their regular official duties in order to protect the interests of the university’s thronging student population, their parents, and the institution itself.

As a consequence, all parties involved agreed that the institution should be quickly reopened so that academic activities may continue.

Therefore, on Monday, August 29, 2022, all newly accepted students for the academic session of 2021–2022 shall return to school for screening, registration, and orientation.
