Eddie McGuire says it’s time Australians consider other forms of travel amidst the chaos at airports – as Qantas cuts more flights from its schedule

The pandemonium at airports, according to Eddie McGuire, has prompted the airline Qantas to announce the cancellation of further flights from its timetable.

The announcer admitted that he, like many Australians, had recently encountered aggravating flight-related problems, such as overcrowding, a cancellation, and an unsuccessful landing.

It happens at the same time that Qantas announced it would postpone more flights and offered an apology to its angry passengers for misplaced luggage, delays, and cancellations.

On Thursday, McGuire told 3AW radio that he had been on “a few flights” in the previous week and that most of them had experienced “snafus,” including one aircraft to Sydney being cancelled, an aborted landing, and lengthy lines.

You’re crazy if you try to check your luggage in given the circumstances, he remarked. You’re merely taking control of your time and your life.

I could have ridden my bike to my meetings in Sydney, as I said.

Due to the amount of stuff people are carrying, he claimed that flying has become “very hard” and advised travellers to think about using a car instead.

He advised, “You can put it (luggage) in the trunk of your car and view things you haven’t seen.”

The previous president of Collingwood Football claimed that driving was less expensive and that it was preferable to “be bored than anxious” while travelling.

Additionally, he advised taking the train to work, adding, “We’ve got the infrastructure, let’s hype it up.”

With families today, our mentality is to simply arrive to the airport and board. You can see the children; they are all yelling, and their parents are attempting to calm them down.

“However, if you boarded something like that (trains) and made it an adventure, they fall asleep, and the train’s swaying is great for a sound sleep,” the speaker said.

In order to keep kids entertained, the presenters and McGuire also mentioned that long-distance trains also feature WI-fi.

It relieves the stress of professional travel, especially during the summer. McGuire continued, “If you can avoid doing it on an aircraft, do it.

More flights have been eliminated from Qantas’ schedule as a result of ongoing labour issues, a lack of workers, disorganised operations, cancellations, and delays.

Customers who are irate have posted many complaints on the airline’s social media pages.

On Wednesday morning, Qantas Domestic and International CEO Andrew David made an appearance on Ben Fordham’s 2GB radio show to apologise to consumers and make a promise that the airline would improve moving forward.

Let me begin by expressing my apologies to everyone who is listening.

Since we are the national carrier, and since we hold high standards for ourselves, it is obvious that we haven’t been delivering what we used to in the months prior to Covid.

In response to “operational challenges,” Mr. David stated on the programme that Qantas had “restricted some of our flying this month” and was “going to do the same next month.”

He continued by saying that in order to handle the airline’s growing workload, Qantas had also hired 1,000 personnel since Easter.
