Earl Boen, who was well-known for playing Dr. Silberman in the Terminator movies, has passed away. He was 81.

According to Variety, Boen passed away in Hawaii on January 5th. Although the cause of death wasn’t immediately known, the site adds that he was given a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis the previous year.

The actor had a lengthy resume with 291 roles listed on IMDb. Boen performed the roles of Father Salerno in The Golden Girls, Reverend Meechum in Mama’s Family, and Howard in The Law & Harry McGraw in addition to his role as the criminal psychologist in the first three Terminator movies.

Boen is the only actor who has appeared in each of the first three Terminator movies, aside from Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the sixth film, Terminator: Dark Fate, archival footage served as his appearance. In a 2014 interview, Boen discussed his iconic performance and referred to his character as “the cockroach that wouldn’t die.” I simply keep appearing and appearing.

I’m the only person who appeared in all three of the original Terminator movies, he said, other from Arnold. The only two who can say that are he and I. Boen said that he wasn’t asked to play the same role in Terminator Genisys again, but that he “would do it” if he were.

Since his on-screen debut in 1974, Boen has also provided the voices for many characters in animated films, including Clifford the Big Red Dog, Kim Possible, Skeleton Warriors, and Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

Additionally, the actor provided the voices for a number of characters in well-known video games, such as The Narrator and various characters in seven World of Warcraft games, Tales of Monkey Island, and Blood Omen 2.

Boen’s wife, stepdaughter, and two grandchildren are left behind.
