A spokesperson from Buckingham Palace stated that the Duchess of Edinburgh is profoundly saddened by the death of Helen Holland, who was tragically hit by a motorcycle that was part of the duchess’s police escort.

Helen Holland, an 81-year-old woman, was struck at the intersection of West Cromwell Road and Warwick Road in Earl’s Court on the afternoon of May 10.
According to Ms. Holland’s son, Martin, she suffered multiple broken bones and severe internal injuries.
Despite fighting for her life for nearly two weeks, irreparable damage to her brain ultimately led to her passing.

Martin Holland mentioned that his mother was using a pedestrian crossing, which he considered a safe route, at the time of the collision.
The incident has been under investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), who appealed for witnesses and obtained nearby CCTV footage for analysis.
