DUBAI, 14th August, 2022 (WAM) — Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director-General of Dubai Customs, CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, received a high level Tanzanian delegation headed by Dr. Ally Possi, Deputy Secretary-General at the Ministry of Works and Transport.
The delegation included Hamza Saidi Johari, Director-General, Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority; Mussa Ibrahim Mbura, Director-General, Tanzania Airports Authority; and a number of Tanzanian officials.
From DP World, Suhail Al Banna, CEO and Managing Director of DP World Middle East and Africa, and AbdulAziz Al Marzooqi, Manager of Business Development Research and International Relations for Middle East and Africa Region, attended the meeting.
From Dubai Customs, Mansoor Al Malik, Executive-Director for Policies and Legislation Division at Dubai Customs; Yousef Al Hashmi, Acting CEO of Customer Management Division; Ibrahim Kamali, Director of Passenger Operations Department; Younis Othman, IT Director; and Falah Khalil Al Sammak, Senior Manager of Terminal 2 – DXB Airport, participated in the meeting.
Dubai Customs briefed the visitors with customs procedures and best practices at the Passenger Operations Department and the role of Mirsal 2 in developing customs services.
Musabih highlighted the strong ties between the UAE and Tanzania and Dubai customs’ efforts to enhance means of cooperation with the Tanzanian partners in aviation and transport sections. “This aims at furthering Tanzanian efforts in developing customs services provided to passengers and traders benefiting from Dubai Customs distinctive performance in customs procedures and services sector.”
“Dubai Customs is working to achieve its vision to maintain its role as the leading customs administration in the world supporting legitimate trade, through the permanent development of its services that enhance trade facilitation and support the movement of tourism and travel in implementation of the Dubai Customs Strategic Plan 2021-2026. With this in mind, we have developed a number of systems and applications including the iDeclare app., which enables passenger declare what they will carry with them in advance saving them time and hassle. In H1 2022, around 27.86 million passengers used Dubai International Airport,” he added.
Musabih also reviewed the progress made in the e-commerce field, especially after the building of Dubai Customs Cross Border e-Commerce Platform; the first of its kind in the region. The platform facilitates e-commerce trade for companies in transport, logistics and shipping. The platform will encourage e-commerce players to have distribution facilitates in Dubai to serve the region.
For his part, Dr. Possi expressed his appreciation for the development achieved by Dubai Customs in commercial and customs services provided to travelers and traders, highlighting the keenness to benefit from the experience of Dubai Customs by enhancing cooperation and coordination to support the development of mutual economic and trade relations.
Falah Khalil Al Sammak, Senior Manager of Terminal 2- DXB Airport, gave a presentation on the efforts of the Passenger Operations Department and its role in providing the best customs services to travelers through the continuous development of human potential and the upgrading of baggage and inspection devices using the latest smart applications and systems.
Moreover, the presentation of IT Director Younis Othman focused on Mirsal 2; the in-house built integrated customs system that played a vital role in facilitating customs services and trade.
