DTSG Calls For More Investments in Sports Sector

Delta State Government has made a call for more partnership with the private sector to discover and harness talents for the growth development, and increased prestige of the state, through school sports.
The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, made this call at the third edition of Divine Love College biennial inter-house sports competition in Ubulu-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary (Ministry of Information), Mr. Paul Osahor, the Commissioner said that the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration has committed resources to sports development across all levels of education in the state.
In his words, “The state government is interested in building partnership with the private sector in the provision of schools. The government will continue to cooperate with the private sector to ensure that school sports are developed in the state”.
While enumerating the advantages of school sports to include; unity, prosperity, prestige, among others, Mr. Aniagwu commended the Catholic Church for her contributions towards human capacity development, especially at the level of basic and secondary education.
Earlier, the Principal of the College, Rev Sr. Rosemary Emeruwa, called on parents, good-spirited individuals, and corporate organizations to contribute towards the development of school sports, which she said, has immense benefits to the society.
