A grandmother from Norfolk has transformed her kitchen on a budget of just £500.
Petra, 54, began the process after finding a £150 kitchen tap in B&Q for just £10, which prompted her to examine the rest of the space.
She found it “tired” and began to consider how she could brighten it up.
After seeing images of painted furniture on Facebook DIY groups, she decided to freshen up the walls and worktops.
She purchased D-C-Fix Whitewood Matt White Wood effect self-adhesive film, Rust-Oleum Washable Matt Kitchen Cupboard Paint in the shade Blueprint, and white stick-on tiles from Amazon.
Her husband also built her a broom cupboard, which they painted to match the cupboards.
Petra’s DIY Process
Petra began the transformation by cleaning the room and sanding down the cupboards to prepare them for the paint.
She then applied the self-adhesive film to the worktops, which she found to be a fiddly process.
She had to work hard to avoid creating bubbles in the film. After this, she applied the stick-on tiles to achieve the look she wanted.
Petra took her time throughout the process, and the whole job took her three days.
Her husband’s experience in the building trade enabled him to create a cupboard to store the vacuum, brooms, and other supplies.
