Divorce proceedings between Mahlolo and Vusi Thembakayo: nasty court battle

The divorce between motivational speaker and entrepreneur Vusi Thembekwayo and his estranged wife Palesa Mahlolo is anything but pleasant. According to reports, the pair wed in 2020. Since then, they have accused one another of physical violence and substance misuse problems.

According to reports, Thembekwayo was detained in December 2021. According to City Press, his wife claimed that her motivational speaker husband abused her.

Thembekwayo reportedly spent some time in jail before being freed on bail the next day. Mahlolo allegedly claimed that her husband smacked and dragged her out of bed before ordering her to leave their Dainfern residence.

When Thembekwayo was released from prison, he reportedly resorted to social media to explain his side of the tale. He explained that he and Mahlolo were experiencing challenges in their marriage. Thembekwayo disclosed that his wife had a “protracted struggle with substance abuse.”

Thembekwayo was reportedly criticized in Mzansi for airing his wife’s dirty laundry. They believed he was attempting to portray her in a negative manner.

According to reports, Thembekwayo and Mahlolo are fighting in court once again. The speaker on motivation reported his wife to the Johannesburg High Court. The Citizen stated that Thembekwayo said his wife refused to sign off on an offer to sell their Steyn City property.

According to reports, the successful entrepreneur purchased the property in 2017 and has since endured financial difficulties due to Covid-19 laws. Also, the residence was apparently close to being repossessed.

“I made at least three attempts to restructure the debt with the first respondent beginning as early as 2021. The impact of Covid on my finances, as well as having to support two families, had a negative effect on my income, according to The Sunday World.

“I met with Palesa, and we agreed to list the home for sale. This deal was reached because I persuaded her that we would lose earnings if the second respondent executed on the property,” he added.

According to reports, the property was acquired for investment purposes and is estimated to be worth R4 million. A buyer apparently promised to purchase it for R3.6 million, but due to Mahlolo’s delays, the offer has since expired.

According to reports, FNB initiated legal actions against Thembekwayo and Maholo last year. Due to delinquent payments, the bank has apparently initiated the procedure to declare the property executable.

Reportedly, the bank’s goal is to recover R1.3 million.
