Disney’s Oogie Boogie Bash is worth $179 for adults

Oogie Boogie Bash takes place at Disneyland’s Disney California Adventure Park.

Carly Carlymane

The theme of the family-friendly event is the beloved figure Oogie Boogie from “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

Tickets are sold separately from conventional theme park entrance, and the event takes place on select September and October evenings. It has a dynamic pricing structure that varies depending on the date; an adult ticket cost $179 during my visit.

The event includes immersive trick-or-treat pathways, gourmet cuisine, picture ops, and an exclusive parade.

Before the event, we had cocktails at the adjacent hotel.

The Hearthstone Lounge at Disney’s Grand Californian was where we stopped.

Carly Carlymane

We began the evening with cocktails at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa’s Hearthstone Lounge, which is adjacent to the theme park.

Before entering the Halloween celebration, we were allowed to examine the hotel’s impressive Oogie Boogie display. It was the ideal location to get into the party vibe and avoid the crowds.

In addition, because we were coming from the resort, we entered the park by a side entry that is normally less crowded than the main gates.

We were permitted entry into the park three hours before the party began.

Oogie Boogie Bash occurs on various September and October nights.

Carly Carlymane

The park’s gates opened at 3 p.m., and the ticketed event continued from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

We were able to enter the park before the party began (without a general admission ticket) and complete a few tasks, which is a benefit of the system.

The entire park was transformed for the duration of the celebration with special decorations, music, and frightening lighting.

There was entertainment, activities, trick-or-treating, character experiences, and a parade with a Halloween theme.

The occasion affords grownups a rare opportunity to dress in character in the parks.

Guests dressed as the Sanderson sisters from “Hocus Pocus” were spotted.

Carly Carlymane

At Oogie Boogie Bash, costumes are encouraged as long as they adhere to Disney’s requirements (no weapons, no full masks, nothing offensive, etc.).

Typically, only children under the age of 14 are permitted to wear complete costumes in the parks, so the ticketed event is an excellent opportunity for fans to get into the Halloween spirit.

During my stay, many attendees, including myself and my companions, donned costumes. This year, the Sanderson sisters from “Hocus Pocus” were a particularly popular choice for Halloween costumes.

I attended a D23 VIP evening.

D23 is the official Disney fan club.

Carly Carlymane

As a member of D23, the official Disney fan club, I scheduled my visit during an exclusive evening.

This featured exclusive gifts and photo opportunities at Carthay Circle.

Almost all attractions were accessible during the party.

Some attractions even feature Halloween-themed overlays.

Carly Carlymane

During the party, the majority of popular attractions, including Toy Story Midway Mania and Radiator Springs Racers, were accessible.

Because many attendees are there for the special possibilities, wait times throughout the evening were short.

I enjoyed the seasonal ride overlays, such as Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween and Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark.

Trick-or-treating was the evening’s highlight.

Both adults and children can obtain candy throughout the event.

Carly Carlymane

There were both new and returning immersive treat pathways with different personalities throughout the park.

Each route featured multiple trick-or-treating locations with an abundance of candy.

Newer characters, such as Ernesto de la Cruz from “Coco,” tended to have the longest lines on average. But because they’re constantly moving, it’s very quick, and I believe they’re worth it because these characters are unique to the event.

The interactions were quite entertaining and customized. They were permitted to converse with guests and pose for photographs.

My favorite candy path was Sid from “Toy Story.”

Sid is not typically a character encountered in parks.

Carly Carlymane

A handful of the treat trails throughout the park were my favorites, including one starring Sid from “Toy Story.”

His interactions with guests were amusing, and he maintained his persona with skill as each person passed.

I also adored getting to see Oogie Boogie himself.

Oogie Boogie is the event’s namesake figure.

Carly Carlymane

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the event’s main attraction, Oogie Boogie.

His outfit was exceptionally well-made, and his responses to guests were among the most amusing.

The celebration is also an opportunity to see rare characters in public.

Agatha Harkness, Bruno, and Cruella de Vil were present.

Carly Carlymane

One of the most popular aspects of Oogie Boogie Bash is the chance to view uncommon Disney characters that are unavailable during normal park hours.

This included Bruno from “Encanto” and Agatha Harkness from “WandaVision” when I went. In addition, I witnessed a zombie Captain America.

Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, and Clarabelle were dressed as the Sanderson Sisters from “Hocus Pocus” for most of the event, but the wait was two hours long. I did not wish to consume so much of my already limited time slot.

Villains Grove was an additional highlight of the occasion.

The villain area complemented the Halloween theme perfectly.

Carly Carlymane

In the park’s Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, Villains Grove was a walk-through experience that utilized special effects.

The art installation takes you through the worlds of numerous Disney villains, illuminating their stories with color, light, and music in a magnificent forest environment.

The blazing rose garden was my favorite feature of Villains Grove.

The flowers in Villains Grove shone brightly.

Carly Carlymane

A rose garden setting inspired by the Queen of Hearts in “Alice in Wonderland” was one of the most visually appealing aspects of Villains Grove.

In front of my eyes, it appeared like the plants were coming to life with color due to the lighting effects.

Twice per night, an event-exclusive procession is held.

There is a special parade for the occasion.

Carly Carlymane

The Frightfully Fun Parade occurs just during the party, twice per night. I enjoyed the second parade performance because the sun had completely set by then.

The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow led the parade while carrying a glowing jack-o’-lantern to set the mood.

In addition to Mickey and Minnie in Halloween costumes, the parade featured unusual floats depicting renowned Disney villains like as Dr. Facilier from “The Princess and the Frog.”

The theme of my favorite parade float was a Tim Burton film.

There was a “Nightmare Before Christmas” float.

Carly Carlymane

I was pleased by all the parade floats, but my favorites were those inspired by Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

On one float, Jack Skellington and Sally were featured.

Cars Land was one of my favorite redesigned portions of the park.

Carly Carlymane

The already-impressive scenery of Cars Land was transformed for Halloween (dubbed Haul-O-Ween).

The area, which looked beautiful when illuminated at night, featured tire garlands and spectral orange gigantic cones.

Favorite “Cars” franchise characters are depicted in their Halloween costumes, or “car-stumes.”

Even at night, the “Coco”-themed plaza was a sight to behold.

There was an entire segment inspired by “Coco.”

Carly Carlymane

Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) inspired the transformation of Paradise Gardens into “Coco’s” Plaza de la Familia.

The magnificent area is accessible during normal park hours, but its vibrant colors and murals truly sparkle during the evening festivities.

The celebratory atmosphere contributed to the general spirit.

There were projections of light throughout the park.

Carly Carlymane

It appeared as though the entire park had eerie features added.

The light projection effects employed to change the outside of the Carthay Circle Bell Tower were my favorite.

In order to convey swarming bats and other Halloween imagery, they were synchronized to music.

I appreciated the event’s seasonal food options.

Carly Carlymane

The event featured a variety of special foods.

My party secured pick-up slots for meals throughout the event and coordinated mobile orders early in the evening. The loaded buffalo-chicken fries from Flo’s V8 Café were a fan favorite.

The steak fries were heaped high with chicken tenders and buffalo sauce, then topped with blue cheese, celery, and ranch dressing.

This dish was wonderful and ideal for sharing.

I was also pleasantly impressed by Seor Buzz Churros’ “pain churro.”

Oogie Boogie Bash’s spicy churro.

Carly Carlymane

The seasonal dish was a traditional churro covered with strawberry-flavored sugar and ghost-pepper hints.

It was a novel variation on the standard amusement park snack, and the heat was well appreciated.

We also sampled Halloween-themed foods that were not served at the celebration.

Carly Carlymane

Additionally, we sampled seasonal food that was available both at the gathering and during regular park hours.

At Corn Dog Castle, we savored a hot-link corn dog whose batter had been blackened for the Halloween season.

The funnel fries were undeniably delicious.

The Oogie Boogie funnel fries are a fan favorite that has returned.

The dessert consisted of chocolate-creme-filled cookie crumbs, bright green whipped cream, cookie crumbs, gummy candies, and chocolate candies.

I believe the event was worth the price of admission because it had an adult vibe.

I enjoyed attending Oogie Boogie Bash.

Carly Carlymane

In comparison to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Disney World, the special event felt overwhelmingly adult-friendly.

Since the California park sells alcoholic beverages, the celebration is geared primarily toward adults, and I did not see as many youngsters as I typically do at after-hours gatherings.

With so much Halloween-themed entertainment, decorations, and music, the entire park resembled a vibrant celebration. It was a pleasure to dress up and spend the holiday with friends.

Due to the fact that we spent a total of eight hours at the park (three before the party and five during), $179 seemed reasonable in comparison to the cost of ordinary park entrance. Depending on the day, a single-day, one-park ticket to California Adventure costs between $100 and $170.

There were numerous rare possibilities, which made the evening feel special and memorable.
