Devon jail officer loses 8 stone after £7,000 gastric bypass surgery in Lithuania

A prison officer who once weighed more than 18 stone now appears unrecognizable after losing eight stone through surgery in Lithuania.

Grace Whyte, age 35, weighed 18st 7lbs at her heaviest, and after more than two decades of dealing with her weight, she chose to have gastric bypass surgery to lose weight.

She decided to borrow £7,000 to pay for weight loss surgery in Lithuania out of desperation.
She stated, “I’ve had food issues since I was a child.”

As a coping tactic, I would hide food and covertly eat when I wished I were someone else.

With each passing year, I gained another pound. At age 11, I weighed 11 stone, and at age 18, I weighed 18 stone 7 pounds, which was my heaviest weight.’

Her weight continued to fluctuate, and after the death of her 55-year-old father, Jim Whyte, she “soared back up to 17 stone.”

She stated, “All I wanted was to be skinny, but I was caught in my own head, and on the weekends I would overeat despite calorie counting and exercise during the week.”

So I decided to investigate weight loss surgery. I passed all the inspections, obtained a loan to pay for the £7,000 surgery in Lithuania, and proceeded with the process.

It was the best decision I ever made.

The surgical procedure includes the insertion of surgical staples, which are subsequently utilized to construct a tiny pouch at the top of the stomach.

Ms. Whyte underwent surgery in August 2020, and less than a year later, in July 2021, she weighed 10 st.

She stresses, however, that surgery is not the easy way out and that it has been difficult to maintain a regular weight loss.

She stated, “It was more difficult than I anticipated, but I am so glad I did it.

“I was unhappy. I was unwilling to leave the house because I did not wish to be observed.

What is gastric bypass surgery?

There are numerous sorts of surgical weight loss procedures.

Grace Whyte before she decided to get weight loss surgery in LithuaniaMs Whyte said: ‘You're treated so differently when you're big, it's so nasty.'Ms Whyte underwent the surgery in August 2020 and less than a year later in July 2021 she had hit her goal weight of 10stThe surgery involved inserting surgical staples which are then used to create a small pouch at the top of the stomach

They are all typically performed via keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery while the patient is under general anesthesia (sleeping), although they operate in slightly different ways.

A surgeon performs keyhole surgery by making small incisions in the abdomen and inserting a flexible viewing tube so they can look inside while operating.

Utilizing surgical staples, a gastric bypass creates a tiny pouch at the top of the stomach.

The pouch is subsequently attached to the small intestine, bypassing the remainder of the stomach.

This means you feel full with less food and absorb less calories from the food you consume.

NHS is the source.

“When I was younger and at my biggest weight of 18 stone 7 pounds, people would yell insults at me as I walked down the street.

“Big people are treated so differently, it’s disgusting.

Due to my weight, I suffered from several aches and pains, as well as knee issues. I was incapable of resisting the impulse to binge.

Ms. Whyte utilized food as a means of self-harm; she would’shovel in enormous packets of chocolates, candies, crisps, and biscuits’ before vomiting in order to eat more.

She said, “On binge days, I would consume over 4000 calories.”

It was beyond control. I knew I had it in me to lose weight like the people on My 600-Pound Life.

Amazingly, after my operation I began to lose weight, despite my continual concern that it wouldn’t work for me.

It was a difficult battle, but once I saw the results, I felt so happy and like I was becoming the person I was meant to be.

Before undergoing surgery, the jail guard consumed chocolate bars for breakfast, pizza and cake for lunch, and burger and chips for dinner.

Since reducing 8 pounds, she feels better than she ever has.

She stated, “I now wear crop tops constantly.” I always wanted I could wear them when I saw my friends wearing them, and now that I can, it feels incredible.

“I enjoy wearing form-fitting clothing and bikinis, and I can order whatever I want with confidence that it will fit.”

‘I’ve always been a really glamorous person, but I’ve never been able to properly express it. Now I can be the person I was always intended to be.
