Deion Sanders offered Colorado’s head coach position

The University of Colorado has offered Sanders the position as head coach, according to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic. Feldman stated that Sanders, the head coach at Jackson State, is interested in the role.

In only three seasons as head coach, Sanders has transformed Jackson State into an FCS powerhouse. The Tigers have gone 26-5 since the COVID-shortened 2020 season, including 11-0 so far this year. Prior to his arrival, they went 4-8.

The Buffaloes appear to feel that the Pro Football Hall of Famer can lead them back to prominence in the Power 5 conference.

This season, Colorado is 1-10 overall and 1-7 in the Pac-12. In the last 17 years, the club has only had one winning season, in 2016 when they finished first in the South Division of the Pac-12 Conference with a 10-4 overall record.

Colorado was previously one of the finest programs in the country, appearing in the Orange Bowl in consecutive years (1989 and 1990) and sharing the national championship with Georgia Tech in 1990.
