The announcement, titled ‘Forbes 2023 Index: Dangote Still Africa’s Richest for 12th Consecutive Year,’ confirmed his position at the top.

Dangote is the sole Nigerian to be included in the list of the world’s top 200 richest individuals, with an estimated net worth of $14.2 billion, up from last year’s $12.1 billion.

Notably, in June, South African entrepreneur Johann Rupert was temporarily ranked as Africa’s richest person by Forbes Magazine, with a net worth of $12 billion.

Forbes stated, “In its latest ranking of world billionaires for 2023, falling stocks, wounded unicorns, and rising interest rates translated into a down year for the world’s wealthiest people.”

Currently positioned 124th among the world’s billionaires, Dangote is the only Nigerian to make it into the top 200, and one of only two Africans in that bracket.

South Africa’s Johann Rupert, involved in luxury goods, ranked 157th with a net worth of $11.1 billion.

Aliko Dangote, the founder and chairman of Dangote Cement, stands at the helm of Africa’s largest cement producer.

Dangote Cement operates with a production capacity of 51.6 million tonnes per year across ten Sub-Saharan African countries.
