Dallas Cowboys fan trots into Walmart on a horse dressed with a unicorn horn

Sheriff, get that cowboy!

Dallas Cowboys fan Michael Duncan, 52, of Fort Worth, and his horse Sheriff, 18, took a detour from the tailgate to trot through an Arlington Walmart to get Sheriff a bucket so he could also imbibe – on water.

It would hard to say if the horse or its owner is a bigger Dallas fan, as the animal was decked with blue streaks through his mane, a blue tail, and a blue fuzzy unicorn horn.

But just like fans are thirsty for a rare win from the team, Sheriff was parched for a big blue bucket of water by the third quarter. That’s the reason Duncan giddied up through Walmart to the delight of grocery shoppers and the internet.

The Dallas Cowboys ultimately won 20-17 on Sunday.

Duncan told DailyMail.com on Friday that Texas Live Bar – their usual go-to water spot – had turned them away and they were unable to find a bucket elsewhere, so they headed toward the Walmart across the street.

‘I freaking can’t believe I had to leave tailgate to get a new bucket in Walmart for Sheriff Duncan [to drink] some water!!’ Duncan, who wore a Dak Prescott jersey while perched on his horse, wrote on Instagram.

‘I just couldn’t believe they let me in!’ the cowboy, who has never ridden a horse before this year, he told DailyMail.com.

There’s ‘no law against horses’ in Texas, but the owner must get permission from an employee to go inside, the Texan said.

The gentle horse calmly trotted into the Walmart, stopping in the vestibule for Duncan to ask: ‘Can he come in here?’ An employee didn’t answer and they continued their journey through the store in search of a bucket.

‘Are you okay with him coming with me to get the bucket?’ he asked about Sheriff, a former Fort Worth Stockyards Carriage horse.

The security gates then opens and Sheriff begins his journey to stardom and aisle A14.

Several people stopped them along the way, including an officer, who they met outside before going in. Many filmed as Duncan asked: 'Y'all don't see unicorns in here every day?'

‘No way!’ someone excitedly yells as they see Sheriff. At one point several employees in blue vests gather around to pet the horse and to assist Duncan to pick up a blue bucket for water.

Stunned children left their jaws on the floor as he passed by, Duncan jokingly asked: ‘Y’all don’t see unicorns in here every day?’

At one point, a police officer, who they met outside, stopped Duncan and Sheriff, but ultimately lets the duo continue on their way after many customers gathered around.

Sheriff worked as a carriage horse for six years prior to meeting his ‘best friend’ Duncan and ‘love the attention and treats.’

Various videos of the encounter began popping up on social media, with even the Dallas Cowboys’ official TikTok posting a video of him, asking TikTok users to ‘do your thing! Help us find this Cowboy!’

Users quickly identified the Texan and his well-traveled horse. The Cowboys have yet to make an official statement regarding the quick find.

However, the team’s mascot, who Duncan met during the game, did offer to help Sheriff become a social media influencer and help out with his accounts.

However, social media users nonetheless got in on the fun.

TikTok user Maria Chisoldado wrote: ‘It’s okay. It’s a service animal.’

Another user joked that ‘it’s true, we don’t know how to act when the Cowboys win.’

Many commented that these things happen ‘only in Texas.’

‘This is how we Texas,’ user DayCee wrote.

‘You can’t sum up Texas in one video. The video,’ another wrote.

‘This is the craziest thing I have seen and I live in Texas,’ Lupita P. Hernandez wrote on the popular app.

Sheriff worked up a sweat prior to his Walmart adventure. He wouldn’t be a true fan if he didn’t wonder around the tailgate parties at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Unable to actually enter the stadium, Duncan and Sheriff have spent the last two games meeting tons of new people and enjoying the parking lot parties.

Duncan told DailyMail.com that despite parking only 20 to 25 minutes away, it takes a lot longer to reach the stadium because everyone stops them as they go.

‘He used to large crowds, he loves the attention,’ Duncan told DailyMail.com. ‘Everyone stops you along the way.’

The brightly colored horse even let some fans go for a joy ride, including Cowboy player Zeke Elliot’s father Stacy.

‘Never in my life did I think I would be riding a horses @attstadium before a NFL football GAME!!! I’m going to tell my grandchildren that THE @ambasdor_elliott was a REAL Cowboy!!!’ the proud father wrote.

Dallas fans Abby Kelleher and Steven Cruz also posted on their Instagram a picture of her and Sheriff outside of the stadium.

Sheriff also makes his rounds to all the hot stops around town as the steed’s Instagram and TikTok are filled with various bar crawls and restaurant stops.

Duncan said since getting the horse, he’s taken him everywhere with him and Sheriff has even hit up 5-star hotels.

The horse owner also told DailyMail.com that he knew nothing about the animals until he got the animal in late-December.

‘We’ve been best friends since,’ he said.

What inspired him to become a real life cowboy: The show Yellowstone.

Many fans had a hay day in the comment section, saying people only see this in Texas.
