Children who identify as transgender are going through “nothing more than a phase,” according to a Tory MP

As he pushes schools to ‘fight back’ against activists, a Tory MP believes pupils who identify as transgender are going through ‘nothing more than a phase.’

Nick Fletcher, who made headlines after claiming that young males are being persuaded to join the criminal justice system because Dr Who is a woman, has addressed letters to every school in his constituency.

He asserted that a ‘transgender lifestyle’ is being glamorized in books and the media, and that he would defend head teachers who did not follow suit.

The MP for Don Valley in South Yorkshire said in his letter: ‘I believe that quite simply boys are boys and girls are girls.

‘There are obviously some who may feel different to this.

‘I recall that in my childhood there were girls who were viewed as ‘Tomboys’ and usually or probably prepubescent boys that liked the company more of girls, so this in itself is nothing new.

‘What is new is the way it is now viewed. It appears from the media that it is now seen by our children and young people that they may be or actually are transgender when it comes to feelings of being a boy or a girl.

‘Books which make this ideology acceptable to embrace and such media in all its forms that glamorise this transgender lifestyle are I’m afraid reaffirming something that is nothing more than a phase.

‘I understand schools sometimes feel as though they have to be all things to all people and are afraid of being classed as transphobic.

‘But please be assured that a push back on this is desperately needed and if you do I will stand up for you at all times and champion your resolve.’

Mr. Fletcher has been vocal against women playing traditionally masculine roles in movies and television, most recently when Jodie Whittaker was announced as the first female Doctor Who, which he claimed was pushing young men into a life of crime.

During a debate about International Men’s Day, the MP lamented the dearth of positive male role models on television.

He also made the connection between young guys committing crimes and a slew of previously male on-screen roles that were portrayed in a positive manner being taken over or replaced by women in the key roles.

Dr. Who, the Ghostbusters (whose original all-male crew was replaced by an all-female team for a 2016 reboot), and Luke Skywalker being replaced by Daisy Ridley’s Rey are among the examples he highlighted.

He believes that more positive male role models could benefit in the fight against violence against women and girls, which is overwhelmingly perpetrated by men and boys.

After people recognized Christmas trees in the background, Mr Fletcher was caught uploading the same selfie for the third time to publicize a constituency visit last year.

Despite the fact that Christmas trees and festive lights had not yet been up in the town this year, constituents soon noticed them in the background of the shot.

Residents have accused the MP of faking the visit because the selfie, which shows him smiling, is an old photo that he has shared to his social media on two previous occasions within the last year.

Mr Fletcher promptly apologized, explaining that he had ‘forgotten’ to take a photo during the visit and had instead relied on an older one.
