This far-left City Councilman may need a lesson on 9/11 history.

Councilman Chi Ossé (D-Brooklyn) left Twitter baffled when he openly questioned why the NYPD has officers stationed in foreign countries, allegedly failing to comprehend or ignoring the fact that they are overseas to prevent terrorist threats from reaching New York City.

He tweeted on Wednesday, “Why does a local police department have outposts in 16 cities other than New York?” “Each and every one of these outposts/stations/whatever they are must be demolished and closed.”

The 24-year-old rookie councillor, who supports decreasing the NYPD’s budget and was elected in 2021 after garnering popularity as an organizer for the Black Lives Matters movement, also displayed a globe map from a 2018 New York Times article highlighting regions where police are “embedded.” It comprised 14 cities outside the United States, including London, Paris, Tel Aviv, and Abu Dhabi.

The sites are part of the NYPD’s International Liaison Program, which was established in 2003 and is supported by private donations to the New York City Police Foundation.

Critics found the remarks incomprehensible.

“Since you are a member of the city council, our counter-terrorism operations can be explained by the police chief,” responded @ChuckMonsanto.

“Have you ever heard of 9/11? Before your birth. Chien Kwok, a parent leader and member of the Community Education Council for District 2 in Manhattan, tweeted, “Consult with your elders before you tweet.”

Nonetheless, the politician’s comments earned almost 4,900 likes as of Saturday morning.

So that New Yorkers may travel the world knowing they will be stopped and frisked by the NYPD no matter where they are, tweeted @BeeredPJ.
