Charity Commission opens a statutory inquiry into Air Ambulance Foundation UK

The nonprofit organisation strives to give air ambulance services in Wales and England financial support.

Using its regulatory authority, the Commission examined the charity’s banking records and requested that the trustees provide documentation of how specific contributions furthered the charity’s goals.

When they didn’t, the regulator launched an investigation and exercised its authority to protect the charity’s assets by freezing its bank account.

The investigation will focus on the charity’s management, governance, and administration in particular:

Whether the trustees are able to adequately account for the charity’s spending, and whether spending has furthered the goals of the organisation.

If new issues surface, the Commission may broaden the scope of the investigation.
