Central Energy Fund: Gasoline, gas, and paraffin prices will drop

Prices for gasoline, gas, and paraffin will all be falling starting on Wednesday, according to the Central Energy Fund, providing some respite for consumers.

This is the second month in a row after rises this year that there have been declines.
The following are the price changes per litre:
R2.04 less in both gasoline grades.

Diesel with 0.05% sulphate will cost 56 cents less, while diesel with 0.005% sulphate will cost 46 cents less.

Illuminating paraffin is now 82c cheaper at the wholesale level, while it will cost R1.09 less at the retail level.

There will be an R1.65 reduction in the maximum retail price of LP Gas.

The fund claimed that both national and local issues played a part in the decline.

“During the period under consideration, the average worldwide product prices for gasoline, diesel, and illuminating paraffin declined.

“On average, relative to the prior period, the Rand appreciated versus the US Dollar throughout the time under consideration.

For the 29 July to 1 September 2022 period, the average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate was 16.7016 as opposed to 16.8719 for the prior period.

The basic fuel costs for gasoline, diesel, and illuminating paraffin were reduced as a result by 12.97 cents per litre, 15.63 cents per litre, and 15.90 cents per litre, respectively, the CEF reported.
