My everyday style is a combination of various prints, patterns, and neutrals.

The majority of my go-to date clothes consist of patterns mixed with predominantly neutral hues.

Tinder celebrates ten years of firsts, including first impressions and first dates, in September.

In addition to the location, your dress is typically one of the most crucial components in making a first date memorable. Especially when meeting a romantic partner for the first time, there is nothing better than feeling good about what you’re wearing.

Regarding my personal style, I believe myself to be a chameleon. My go-to style is edgier streetwear, but I also adore feminine prints and sleek looks. This makes getting ready for a date very cumbersome, and I frequently have to empty my entire closet before restricting my options.

I consulted celebrity stylist Kat Gosik to help me select an outfit that is both memorable and complements my unique style. Gosik has collaborated with “Euphoria” star Sydney Sweeney, “Selling Sunset” actor Christine Quinn, and adult actress Mia Khalifa. Using the advice she provided, I recreated six of her suggestions for first-date attire.

Date 1: Gosik gave me advice on how to dress for an active first date, such as hiking, bicycling, or a stroll through the city.

Elevated athleisure attire is ideal for an athletic first date.

Gosik suggested a brown one-piece, an enormous leather jacket, and hefty black boots for this ensemble.

“A black leather jacket is quite adaptable. I always consider an all-black ensemble to be quite stylish, even when working out… I feel as though a leather jacket is an absolute necessity “Gosik added.

My interpretation is a black one-piece with a mid-drift slit that has been a wardrobe staple for me this year. My Doc Martens were a suitable substitute for Gosik’s thick boots, but I was missing the holographic sunglasses that completed his ensemble. Instead, I wore my go-to brown shades, which complemented the edgier appearance.

I absolutely adored the finished combination and would wear something similar on any occasion.

Date 2: Getting drinks after work requires a look that can transition from day to night.

The blazer and plaid patterns make for a seamless transition from work to date night.

If you meet your date after a long day at work, you’ll need a look that works for both day and night. Gosik proposed an ensemble inspired by “Selling Sunset” star Christine Quinn for the first date.

This plaid miniskirt and jacket ensemble is eye-catching. For my interpretation, I chose a blazer that I believed was more suited for the office. I added a checkered skirt with pleats and teamed it with black accessories to tone down the ensemble.

The shoes were a bit outside of my comfort zone, but I believe they improved my outfit and made me feel more confident than a pair of boots or sneakers would have.

A look for an elegant dinner date does not have to be prohibitively expensive. Gosik suggests thrifting to find affordable, high-quality clothing.

With the proper accessories, this thrifted men’s shirt can be converted into a midnight ensemble.

For an upscale dinner date, Gosik wore a modest but distinctive attire. Her go-to ensemble for a night on the town consisted of an enormous men’s dress shirt, a hefty black belt, and knee-high black boots.

The ensemble is both edgy and feminine, which is how I would typically define my personal style. Before putting together the outfit, I had my misgivings, but I was happy with the result and would wear it for a first date.

If you and your date are grabbing a fast meal and a movie, stick to the fundamentals.

Essential basics, such as the proper pair of jeans, are ideal for a laid-back first date.

This type of date asks for a casual appearance. Gosik suggests wearing your best-fitting essentials to dinner and a movie.

“I just think it’s best to keep things simple and allow your personality shine through… because ultimately, people will like you for who you are and not what you’re wearing,” she remarked.

My favorite white tank is from Zara, which according to Gosik is the most cost-effective store. I donned a pair of thrift store jeans to a date since Gosik recommends wearing your best-fitting pair. According to the stylist, Gosik wore RtA jeans for her version, a brand with great-fitting denim.

I have previously worn this minimalist ensemble on a first date. The outfit’s simplicity makes it suitable for practically any occasion.

Date 5: A matching outfit is a simple and enjoyable way to dress up or down for a brunch date if it’s your first Tinder encounter.

According to Gosik, a fun approach to dress for a brunch date is to experiment with prints.

Gosik sent over a Quinn costume for a classy brunch first date, as the “Selling Sunset” singer is known for her theatrical and daring attire. Quinn’s denim Marc Jacobs ensemble included a matching messenger bag, which Gosik complemented with platform sneakers.

For my interpretation of this brunch-inspired outfit, I combined a plaid pleated skirt with a plaid cropped jacket.

I was pleasantly delighted by the outcome, which was influenced by Gosik’s strong, coordinating patterns. My Steve Madden platform sandals added a sense of playfulness to the look, and I adored the “Clueless” atmosphere of both the original and my version.

On (ideally) a conversation-filled coffee date, a relaxed outfit can make you feel comfortable and confident.

Combining a preppy clothing with clunky shoes and a hat can help to tone things down.

For a morning coffee run with your most recent Tinder match, Gosik suggests pants and a sweater. I combined my brown slacks and black-and-white sweater with a pair of thick Doc Marten’s sandals that mimicked Gosik’s loafer style.

I imitated Gosik’s baseball cap because I admired the attention to detail in her accessories. This casual ensemble is reminiscent of a crisp autumn morning and would be ideal for a first meeting at a local cafe.
