Cardi B visits her old Bronx middle school and donates $100K

Cardi B visited her former middle school in the Bronx and made a substantial arts donation.

Tuesday, the Grammy-winning rapper surprised students at IS 232 in Morris Heights by performing in the auditorium. As she walked down the aisle, the children applauded in shock. She then addressed the pupils on the significance of her educational experience.

“Many teachers were harsh with me because they saw something in me,” she added. “I was a naughty child, yet I was special to many of my instructors, and I still carry them in my heart.”

Cardi also stunned the students and IS 232 Principal Desiree Resto by donating $100,000 to arts initiatives at her alma mater.

Schools Chancellor David Banks tweeted Tuesday afternoon, “We are happy to welcome Cardi B back home to IS 232 #InTheBronx, and we are very appreciative for her generous contribution to her alma institution.” “Cardi B’s donation of $100,000 to the arts will assist the school’s students reach new heights. Thank you, Cardi!”

Following her introduction, the native of the Bronx addressed student questions and posed for a group photo with students and school personnel.

Cardi shared a video of her visit on Wednesday and explained that she had planned to surprise pupils earlier but had to postpone her visit because to COVID-19. She stated that she will be visiting additional schools in Brooklyn and Queens and would soon reveal a secret project on which she has been working for two years.

“This Bronx middle school, IS 232, holds a particular place in my heart! It transformed me from an 11-year-old child into a young adolescent “She posted a message on Instagram. “Because of our conditions and surroundings, children in the Bronx must mature quickly. While some 11- to 13-year-olds continue to live in the Disney world, these children must mature quickly and QUICKLY. Like many of these students, I went through a lot while attending this institution. I have had life-altering experiences that have shaped who I am today.”

She said that she believes her donation “will help develop an incredible after-school program that will help kids avoid the streets or a dysfunctional home and, most importantly, allow them to learn something that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives.”
