A California man has been arrested for reportedly stabbing his pregnant sister to death and putting her charred body a few days after her baby shower, according to authorities.

On Wednesday, the Fresno Police Department reported the arrest of 41-year-old Aaron Dudley for the Fresno murders of 26-year-old N’kya Rebecca Logan and her unborn child.

ABC30 reported that a maintenance team discovered Logan’s burned remains near an apartment building in the 4400 block of North Cornelia Street on Tuesday afternoon.

A witness told responding officers that they spotted a suspicious individual pushing a city trash can along an unpaved road near the apartment complex before setting fire to its contents.

On December 11, Logan hosted a baby shower and intended to name her son Noah.

Police claim that surveillance footage from the neighborhood recorded Dudley pushing the trash can on the day of the incident.

Dudley was apprehended as he attempted to flee the west Fresno home he lived with his sister and mother when police executed a search warrant there.

Logan reportedly celebrated her baby shower on December 11, just two days before to her murder, which Fresno Police Chief Paco Balderrama described as “horrific.”

Balderrama stated that Logan intended to name her son Noah. According to the chief, the infant did not survive after being stabbed numerous times within the uterus.

Tuesday, emergency personnel discovered Logan’s body engulfed in flames inside a city trash can along a gravel road in west Fresno.

Investigators suspect Dudley repeatedly stabbed his younger sister with a bladed weapon, deposited her body in a city garbage can, rolled the container four blocks to a dirt road, and doused the corpse with gasoline before setting it ablaze.

Police did not disclose what could have prompted the murder, but they did reveal that officers were called to the siblings’ house on July 28, 2021, after Logan reported feeling unsafe.

In that incident, according to Balderrama, Dudley was deemed a threat to himself or others and was placed on 72-hour hold.

At a news conference, Fresno Police Chief Paco Balderrama, center, stated that Dudley was previously detained for 72 hours when his sister expressed fear for her life.

Officials have charged Dudley with two counts of murder due to the likelihood that his sister’s unborn child could have lived outside the womb.

“It takes a great deal of malice, hatred, and preparation to repeatedly stab your own sister,” Balderrama stated at the news event, adding that he had not stopped thinking about this case since he first heard about it.
