Climate change is the UK’s top international issue and a crucial partnership area with Pakistan.

Pakistan suffers from some of the greatest climate change consequences, yet its NDC pledges before COP26 proved enormous ambition is feasible.

At COP26, the UK vowed to assist Pakistan battle climate change, promote sustainable water use, and unleash climate investment.

The UK’s Race to Zero programme persuaded 31 Pakistani enterprises pledge to net zero emissions by 2050.

As co-hosts of COP26, the UK has driven international action and assistance to adapt to climate change, which is already hurting lives, livelihoods, and natural ecosystems worldwide.

Over 2,000 enterprises, investors, regions, cities, and other non-state entities have joined the Race to Resilience.

Over 40 nations and organisations have joined the Risk-Informed Early Action Partnership to protect 1 billion people by 2025. PM Boris Johnson praised Pakistan’s ambitious climate target at COP26.

The Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) is a £10.8 million technical support initiative financed by International Climate Finance (ICF) (BEIS).

The CFA works to establish a sustainable pipeline of bankable, low-carbon projects in eight countries (Colombia, Egypt, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, South Africa, and Turkey).

The CFA supports global climate action by simplifying access to financing and helping countries meet Paris Agreement climate commitments.

Pakistan should utilise these monies to fight climate change.

“The Legacy Project” was inaugurated at the Pakistan High Commission London on 18 July 2022 to celebrate British Pakistanis’ 75 years in the UK.

The Project is a collaboration between the British Pakistan Foundation, the National Trust, the World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis, The Pakistan Society, and other British Pakistani organisations.
