Brazen jeweler pistol whips and stomps elderly Asian shopkeeper

Following a break-in at his jewelry store, a shopkeeper from Delaware was viciously pistol-whipped, trampled on, and left bleeding and unconscious.

The 68-year-old Chang Suh was protecting his business, Solid Gold, in Wilmington, the state capital of Delaware, on September 15 when he was assaulted during a 20-minute heist.

A guy with a mask and all-black outfit was shown on camera pretending to be interested in Suh’s products at the business in a video posted by his family.

The Korean-American store owner offers little opposition as he takes Suh by the neck and seems to be holding a gun to his head before bashing him with it.

According to ABC6, the assailant, identified as Calvin Ushery, strikes Suh twice more before the elderly man collapses on the ground behind the counter of his shop.

The robber then leaps over the counter and starts to stomp on Suh’s head once again, encountering no resistance this time.

The owner’s son, Steve Suh, argued that it would be too painful to reveal any further film beyond the 36 seconds of the 20-minute assault that was shared.

The son alleges that the assailant struck his father’s skull 28 times, twice with a hammer, leaving his father in serious condition and confined to an intensive care unit.

His father says he is relearning how to walk, read, and communicate and that anybody his age could’ve been murdered easily. He also says that he has internal bleeding and a serious concussion.

According to KGO-TV, he said that his father has delayed speech and is presently in rehabilitation.

According to Steve Suh, the burglar took around $100,000 in jewels, causing needless harm to his business, which was already struggling to stay open during the epidemic and was robbed during the George Floyd riots.

My father is 68 and his “American Dream” has come to a crashing end,” Suh said.

Ushery, 39, was detained by Wilmington Police on September 22 in connection with the attack.

Ushery does not seem to have been charged with any violence, but he has been charged with robbery, criminal mischief, possession of a weapon during a robbery, and banned possession of a handgun.

He received a $130,500 cash-only bond and was booked into the Howard R. Young Correctional Facility.

Steve Suh says his father’s case has been “brushed under the rug” and that he has a target of $75,000 despite having already earned more than $50,000 for his family and the shop.

A warning that reads, “Due to robbery, damages, and the severe condition of the battered owner, the shop has no inventory and will be closed until further notice,” appears when you Google the business. We apologise for any difficulty caused to our devoted, long-term clients.
