Beer is recalled due to its excessive alcohol content

A popular beer has been recalled due to its excessive alcohol content.

The 375ml watermelon-flavoured sour beers, sold at Your Mates Brew Pub in Warana on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, were found to have a higher alcohol content than stated on the label.

As a result, the affected beers marked best before November 7 this year were also available online across the country but were withdrawn due to secondary fermentation.

Consumers have been warned that drinking the beer could cause ‘injury or illness’.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand has advised consumers not to drink or open this product and to dispose of it safely.

Food products containing excess alcohol and carbonation may cause illness or injury if consumed.

The organisation has also requested consumers to contact Your Mates Brewing Co for safe disposal instructions and to arrange reimbursement.
