BBC report: Prince Andrew will inherit 2 of the Queen’s 3 corgis

The BBC stated that Prince Andrew will inherit two of Queen Elizabeth II’s remaining corgis following her death last week.

The Queen possessed three dogs at the time of her passing: two young corgis named Muick and Sandy, and one dorgi named Candy, according to a report carried by the BBC late on Sunday.

A source close to Andrew told the BBC that Muick and Sandy will reside with the Duke of York and his ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York at the Royal Lodge near Windsor Castle. Uncertain who will take Candy.

“The corgis will return to live with the duke and duchess at Royal Lodge. It was the duchess who discovered the puppies that the duke gave to Her Majesty,” a source told the BBC.

“The duchess bonded with Her Majesty via dog walking and horseback riding, and even after her divorce, she continued their great connection by walking the dogs in Frogmore and conversing with Her Majesty,” a source said.

Despite their 1996 divorce, the duke and duchess of York have remained close and continue to live at the Royal Lodge, a palace on the Windsor Estate.

The couple has two children, Princess Beatrice, 34, and Princess Eugenie, 32, who live in London and Windsor, respectively.

Andrew and his daughters presented the Queen with Muick and another dog named Fergus in 2021.

The Guardian said that they sought to cheer up the Queen while her late husband, Prince Philip, was hospitalized.

In May 2021, when Fergus died unexpectedly of a heart condition, Eugene and Beatrice presented the Queen with a corgi named Sandy to replace him, according to the BBC.

Angela Kelly, the Queen’s personal assistant and close friend, told Hello Magazine in April that the dogs were a “continuous joy” who “always made everyone smile.”

Throughout her historic 70-year reign, the Queen has owned over 30 royal corgis.

Andrew, the third child of the Queen, was forced to resign from royal duties in 2020 after being accused of sexual assault by Virginia Giuffre, a victim of Jeffrey Epstein.

He has refuted the charges.

A royal biographer predicted over the weekend that the Queen’s dogs might be given to Andrew, telling Newsweek: “It would make the most sense for the corgis to go to Andrew… Let’s face it, he has nothing better to do.”
