Chelsea, a powerhouse in the English Premier League, announced on Wednesday the loan signing of Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix until June.
After falling out of favor at Real Madrid and clashing with manager Diego Simeone, Felix was forced to leave the club until at least the end of the season.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the deal is worth €11 million (R201 million), with Chelsea covering the player’s taxes and salary.
The contract also lacks a buy-option clause, thus Felix will return to Wanda Metropolitano at the conclusion of the season. Additionally, Felix extended his contract with Atletico by one year, till 2027.

The Blues reportedly outbid Manchester United and rival London club Arsenal to sign the 23-year-old midfielder.
The acquisition of Felix could be essential for Graham Potter and his squad, who have seen significant injury setbacks in key positions this season.
Since American Todd Boehly came over last summer, Chelsea have spent over £200 million (R4.1 billion) on acquisitions, with Christopher Nkunku, David Datro Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, and Brazilian teenager Andrey Santos being the most recent recruits.
Potter is under tremendous pressure to turn things around at Stamford Bridge, having won only one of his last eight league games and having been eliminated from both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.
Current Premier League standings place Chelsea in tenth place, 10 points clear of relegation.
The Englishman’s career is in jeopardy as calls for his dismissal rise in response to a dismal run of form. Boehly is unwaveringly optimistic and patient with the former Brighton Hove & Albion manager.
