Around 4,000 Albanians have entered Britain this year

Report has it that more than 4,000 Albanians have crossed the Channel to arrive in Britain so far this year.

Ministers worry that the increase may significantly exceed the record 28,500 small boat arrivals set in 2021.

According to insiders, the unheard-of increase of Albanian immigrants is the result of new people-trafficking gang techniques in the Balkans and flaws in British legislation against “modern slavery.”

It is more difficult to deport Albanians since they are claiming to have been trafficked or exploited after they reach the UK.

4,000 Albanians have already arrived in the United States this year, according to a source close to Home Secretary Priti Patel.

We are seeing an increase from Albania since they pay more and, unlike other migrants, are given a guarantee of passage by people traffickers.

People who enter the UK often try to avoid deportation by asserting a claim under the rules against modern slavery.

Yesterday, it was revealed that 20,000 Channel migrants had arrived in Britain this year, a milestone that was not surpassed until early November the previous year.

In other words, since the beginning of January, one in five people who have crossed the Channel are Albanian.

1,075 Albanians landed in tiny boats over a six-week period in June and July, accounting for almost one-fourth of all arrivals during that time, The Mail on Sunday reported last week.

According to the source, a significant percentage of newly arrived Albanians end up committing crimes, creating a “revolving door” into UK jails.

With the Home Office currently chartering one removals flight to Tirana each week, a deal with Albania that Miss Patel signed in July 2021 has increased the number of criminals sent home.

However, the number of people crossing the Channel much outweighs those leaving.

It is understood that the National Crime Agency is collaborating with local police in Albania to stop people from travelling to Britain and is taking action against smuggling gangs.

An insider added that modifications to the Modern Slavery Act of 2015 were on the horizon but were delayed because of the Tory leadership election.

Harish Salve, a renowned QC, has also been chosen by Miss Patel to lead a broader examination of the law.

According to official statistics released last week, 1,130 petitions from Albanians between April and June were the highest group asserting accusations of modern slavery.

After 607 migrants were brought into Dover on Saturday, figures released by the Ministry of Defense yesterday showed that this year’s small boat arrivals have reached 20,017.

It was just over 11,300 at the same time last year.

The number of people who have entered Dover this year to date does not include an unknown number who arrived yesterday.
