Applications for the free fall training for the Seattle Urban Nature Guide volunteer program are currently being accepted by Seattle Parks & Recreation.

Training will start on Saturday, August 27, and applications are due on Saturday, August 20.

By introducing families and kids to the Seattle parklands, Seattle Urban Nature Guides enrich, promote, and cultivate an appreciation of nature while also offering educational opportunities to all.

As a SUNGuide, you will: Develop job skills like public speaking, education methods, and group engagement Take part in a community with other volunteers and city staff Get FREE Training on Pacific Northwest flora and fauna, habitats, environmental education methods to connect with a wide variety of audiences, and equity concepts Lead hands-on learning experiences in a variety of settings, like playgrounds and beaches Get acquainted with Seattle’s diverse community

Lead a minimum of 8 educational events annually;

attend one (2-hour) virtual orientation; complete a required 5-day (9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) training course in the fall;

be available to lead school field trips during the week;

or weekends and evenings for community and public programs; and be encouraged to attend Spring Training in 2023.

Locations: Programs and events will be held in Seattle parklands. Trainings will take place at a number of Seattle parks.

Service Days & Hours: Monday through Sunday. Events and programs last, on average, two hours.
