Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told Elon Musk on Thursday to “stop the proto-fascist rhetoric” and “disconnect” after he banned numerous journalists from the site.

“You’re a public figure. In response to Musk’s assertion that journalists had published his “precise location… assassination coordinates,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, “An incredibly contentious and potent one.”

The New York Democrat wrote, “I understand feeling scared, but sliding into power abuse and arbitrarily banning media only escalates the tension surrounding you.”

“Pause and refrain from proto-fascism. Consider putting down the phone.”

Musk justified the bans by alleging that the reporters had “doxxed” him, barely two weeks after lambasting Twitter’s old management for stifling media.

The communist representative expressed sympathy for Musk’s security worries before criticizing his content-moderation procedures.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez stated that she understood Musk’s security worries, but advised him to “disconnect”

“As someone who has experienced actual and serious schemes, I do understand. I lacked security and have endured numerous terrifying events,” she stated.

“In reality, several of the right-wing media outlets you now elevate have published photographs of my residence, automobile, etc.,” she stated.

“At a certain time you gotta unplug.”

Musk, who has previously been unafraid to respond to the socialist darling, had not responded to her tweet as of Friday morning.

It is unclear whose social media posts Musk described as offering “assassination coordinates” or his “precise location.”

AOC has not received a response from Musk as of Friday morning.

Several of the Thursday-banned journalists had previously reported on Musk’s move to restrict the ElonJet account, which gave the whereabouts of his personal Gulfstream aircraft. Musk terminated a number of additional flight-tracking accounts for aircraft owned by Russian billionaires or the United States government.

Thursday night, during a group voice chat on Twitter, one of the banned reporters defended his work to Musk, arguing he had not published the Twitter CEO’s address. Musk disagreed before abruptly exiting the session and disabling the voice chat feature.

All aircraft, including military flights, are required by law to transmit a transponder signal including identification and location information. The information is not encrypted by design.

Musk tweeted on Friday that his private jet was “really not trackable without using non-public data,” which, if accurate, would be in violation of FAA regulations.

Musk and AOC have previously engaged in an online dispute on his decision to charge verified Twitter users.

Ocasio-Cortez tweeted last month, “Lmao at a billionaire trying to sell people on the concept that ‘free expression’ is actually a $8/month subscription package.”

Musk answered, “Your comment is welcomed; now pay $8.”
