Anti-war demonstrators confront Joe Biden at dinner before he leaves for Ukraine

A pro-war protester accosted President Biden as he was out to dinner with his wife Jill on Saturday night before making a surprise trip to Ukraine, just days before the war’s first anniversary.

Before a protester from the left-wing activist organization Code Pink spoiled the First Lady and President’s dinner, they were peacefully enjoying a meal at a table for two in the venue in Washington, D.C.

I’m sorry to worry you, but we need to put a stop to the conflict in Ukraine. We must proceed with the discussions! The protestor’s voice was raised. She said, “I’m sorry to disturb you, but people are dying.”

The restaurant workers begged the protester to cease bothering the president before she abruptly changed her focus to the communist nation of Cuba.

She pleaded with the list to remove Cuba as a state supporter of terrorism. I’m sorry to disturb you; I’ll be happy to depart, but I hope we push for dialogue and peace talks about removing Cuba from the list of state-sanctioned terrorist organizations.

Both conservatives and progressives have recently criticized the United States’ military assistance to Ukraine in their battle with Russia, with some expressing doubts about the wisdom of continuing this support.

Although Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has cautioned against a “blank-check” approach on prolonged assistance to Ukraine, former President Trump has called for an end to the conflict.

On the political left, Senator Bernie Sanders has warned against becoming too involved in the conflict, while some house Republicans have sponsored legislation calling for an end to U.S. assistance for Ukraine.

30 House Democrats urged the Biden administration to look for diplomatic ways to end the conflict in a letter last year.

Many individuals on both sides of the political aisle are concerned that America’s ongoing engagement might result in an increase of tensions with Russia, another nuclear powerhouse.

Some who favor continuing assistance argue that it is important to protect Ukraine’s sovereignty and stop Russian President Vladimir Putin from escalating his assault.

On Monday morning, Biden made an unexpected trip to Kyiv and said that Vladimir Putin’s “war of conquest” had been a failure.

His visit was kept under wraps. After a lengthy train ride from Poland, he arrived with a minimal press team consisting of only one writer and a photographer.

While there were no indications of Russian missile or air attacks, air raid sirens were heard across the beleaguered Ukrainian capital.

He visited with President Zelensky at the Mariinsky Palace and announced an additional $500,000,000 in aid, along with more Javelins and Howitzers, ammunition, and sanctions on Russia.

One year later, Kiev is still standing, Biden said in a speech. Ukraine is present. Democracy endures.

Putin had made a mistake, he said.

He said that Russia wanted to eradicate Ukraine from the globe. “Putin’s campaign of conquest is a failure. The military of Russia has lost half of the area it formerly controlled.

He praised Ukraine for its bravery in the battle and mentioned his six visits to Kyiv while serving as vice president.

I knew I’d be back, he admitted.

The president was scheduled to fly out of Washington on Monday night to go to Poland for a two-day visit. While there, he will meet with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Warsaw to explore the possibility of sending more American soldiers to that country.

The White House said in its formal instructions that he would depart on Monday night at 7 o’clock.

Instead, at about 4:15am on Sunday, Air Force One departed Joint Base Andrews. The journey was shrouded in mystery.

Just a few of Biden’s closest advisors, a security detail, and a photographer were there. A reporter’s phone was taken before they left.

He arrived in Kiev at eight in the morning.

“Your presence is an enormously significant gesture of solidarity for all Ukrainians,” Zelensky said as he welcomed Biden to the city.

He is pressuring partners to expedite the supply of weaponry and has so far demanded fighter planes, which Biden has rejected.

During their conversation, Zelensky said, “Our discussions were really beneficial.”

The two leaders then proceeded on a city walkabout to pay tribute to Ukrainian servicemen who had died before Biden met with embassy personnel. Around five hours after his arrival, he departed the city.

Biden was restrained from traveling to Kyiv when other foreign leaders did so by the Secret Service, who were worried about how the head of the free world would get there securely.
