Anthony Joshua accepts Tyson Fury’s terms

Anthony Joshua has agreed to terms for a potential world heavyweight championship bout with Tyson Fury, his management company said on Tuesday in London.

Fury, the WBC champion, made the offer to Joshua last week, stating that he would be willing to hand Joshua 40% of the purse to get the fight.

Joshua’s management company, 258, announced on Tuesday that they had accepted Fury’s offer on behalf of Joshua and his promoter, Matchroom, and were currently awaiting the champion’s reaction.

Update on Joshua Fury

Last Friday, 258 and @MatchroomBoxing confirmed on behalf of @anthonyjoshua that we accepted the parameters given by Fury’s side for a fight on December 3rd.

Due to the passing of the Queen, it was decided to cease all communication.

We are waiting for a reply.

“258 and @MatchroomBoxing can confirm, on behalf of @anthonyjoshua, that we accepted all parameters offered to us by Fury’s camp for a fight on December 3rd last Friday,” they stated in a message retweeted by Joshua.

“As a result of the passing of the Queen (death of Queen Elizabeth II), it was decided to cease all communication. We are currently awaiting a reply.”

Fury proposed a “Battle of Britain” with Joshua after it was revealed that Usyk will not fight again until early 2019.

Joshua, 32, was defeated for the second time in a row by the Ukrainian in Saudi Arabia last month and had intended to make a low-key comeback.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, expressed skepticism last week in response to Fury’s offer, doubting whether Fury was “serious” about the fight.

Last month, on the occasion of his 34th birthday, the undefeated Fury declared his retirement from the sport, despite having previously made several U-turns over his future in the sport.

However, in a video shared to social media last week, he appeared to announce that he had once again reversed his decision by challenging Joshua to a fight.

Joshua’s record dropped to 24-3 after his latest loss to Usyk, who retained his WBO, IBF, and WBA titles, but a fight with Fury would generate enormous interest in Britain.
