Anthony Albanese lets in 195,000 more migrants.

Under the administration of Anthony Albanese, the number of permanent migrants will increase from 160,000 to 195,000 in 2022–2023. The increase, according to Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil, includes an extra 9000 positions for rural Australia.

She told delegates at today’s jobs and skills conference, “COVID is giving us a chance to change our immigration system that we will never get back, and I urge us to seize it.”

“Our nation is experiencing a severe talent deficit. Additionally, this is an issue that affects every Australian’s daily life and not only businesses and organizations.

According to O’Neil, increasing local employment and upskilling alone won’t address the jobs issue; rather, the government will always put Australian jobs first.

The number of permanent skilled migrants allowed into Australia has been lifted to 195,000 in a bid to tackle the jobs crisis.
