Ambassador Neil Bush reiterates UK determination to hold Russia to account for atrocities in Ukraine at an OSCE Parliamentary Assembly side event panel

We are all aware that the horrific war waged by the Russian government has resulted in incalculable misery and destroyed the basis for regional security.

As the UK Government, it is resolved to hold the Russian Government and specific Russian military personnel accountable for these atrocities.

We are appalled by reports of rape and other sexual assault committed by Russian military during their invasion of Ukraine.

We are making very explicit that using sexual assault in a war zone is a war crime, and we all should be clear on this.

The largest group referral in the history of the ICC was made in March at the initiative of the UK and a total of 37 additional governments.

The UK is paying unaffiliated organizations to compile solid proof of war crimes.

Mistakes are still made in this area despite multiple sets of instructions for those gathering data and information from survivors and witnesses.

The barbarous actions taken by the Russian Government and Russian military in Ukraine continue to horrify and shock the UK.
