Allegations Surface Against Accountant General of the Federation
Oluwatoyin Madein, the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), is facing allegations of age falsification and bribery prior to her appointment.
These accusations have been brought forward by aggrieved directors within the Office of the AGF.
AGF Oluwatoyin Madein Accused of Age Falsification and Bribery
According to reports, the aggrieved directors have submitted a formal petition outlining their concerns to high-ranking government officials, including the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Wale Edun, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Petition Claims AGF Manipulated Age and Engaged in Corruption
The directors’ petition contains multiple allegations against the AGF.
They accuse Madein of falsifying her age, asserting that she was born on March 7, 1963, but adjusted her age to March 7, 1965, in order to extend her service years and qualify for her current position.
Serious Allegations Target Accountant General of the Federation
Furthermore, the directors claim that Oluwatoyin Madein did not pass a special professional examination designed for shortlisted directors.
They contend that she was ranked second in the selection process, with Olakunle Oladipupo, who is now posted as Director of Finance in the Ministry of Works, emerging as the top candidate.
Calls for Investigation: AGF Accused of Age Tampering and Bribery
The petitioners have also accused the AGF of accepting bribes related to the deployment of accountants to various ministries and government agencies.
They have called on President Bola Tinubu to initiate an investigation and, if warranted, pursue legal action against Oluwatoyin Madein for the alleged offenses, including age manipulation and corruption.
