Ndume dismisses these allegations, considering them as political maneuvers during election time.
Ndume Highlights Similar Accusations Faced by Tinubu
Responding to the report, Ndume emphasizes that such accusations are not new.
He points out that President Bola Tinubu faced similar allegations during his presidential campaign.
Ndume suggests that it is common for politically exposed individuals to face sponsored accusations during elections.
Focus on Anti-Graft Agencies’ Role
Ndume expresses indifference to the allegations against Akpabio, stating that the anti-graft agencies are aware of their responsibilities.
He questions why these groups are trying to dictate the agencies’ actions.
While allegations claim corrupt activities occurred under Akpabio’s watch at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Ndume clarifies that they do not accuse Akpabio of misappropriating funds as governor or as minister.
Clarifying Akpabio’s Roles
Ndume explains that Akpabio was not the accounting officer of the NDDC but rather supervised the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
He addresses accusations of Akpabio not constituting the NDDC board, asserting that it was not within his responsibilities.
According to Ndume, the president of the country holds the responsibility for such appointments.
