AKA’s first interview in two years covers beefs, losses, life, and lawsuits

AKA sat down with the team from “The Sober Podcast” for his first comprehensive interview in two years, during which he discussed hot issues such as his beefs, progress, life’s losses, and lawsuits.

The Super-Mega hip hop musician stated in his first-ever podcast interview, which lasted more than two hours, that a lot has transpired in his personal life over the past three years, but it was time for him to “drop the album,” hence his appearance on the show.

“It’s time for me to release the album, no lie. But truly, music helped me get through that moment. In numerous aspects, I was successful, and I can’t wait for people to hear my new songs.

“Since the last interview I gave, I’m in much better spirits. I believe I have everything worked out, and I am content. I’m in a good place, stated the hitmaker of “Lemons (Lemonade)”

During the conversation, the rap singer, who has a child with DJ Zinhle, discussed his foray into music as he unofficially marks 20 years in the industry this year.

He stated, “I began producing beats at age 14.” I’m 34 now. I’ve been creating music for twenty years. At the time, we intended to release a CD. Do you know how difficult it was for high school students in 2004 to create an album, release it to retailers, and film a music video?

“Today, everyone can accomplish that, but in 2004, it was nearly impossible.” We accomplished our goal.”

On the subject of beefs, he disclosed that he has never listened to the diss tracks created about him, instead focusing on his own albums and music videos, which he acknowledges are “f***ing expensive” to produce.

“When I composed the album ‘Touch My Blood,’ I was free. Everything was pleasant.

“I had money in my pocket and my own business, therefore I was also in an excellent mental state. Additionally, I loved the sound of it.”

“Creating music videos is incredibly expensive. I’ve always over my budget for my movies, and I’ve always paid for it out of my own cash.

“The new one I just shot (Lemons) cost approximately R250K. “Either I’m insane or I truly believe in my music,” he stated.

During the interview, as he smoked marijuana, the “Fela In Versace” hitmaker disclosed that he will soon be entering the cannabis industry.

Speaking of his deceased girlfriend, Nellie Tembe, who passed away in 2021, he stated that he met her when she was 18 but did not initiate a relationship. However, they began dating a few years later.

“She had such a pleasant personality, man, and she really energized me. I went as far as proposing and paying the lobola; I was prepared to make it my life. However, when I consider it and consider where I am right now, I realize that this is my journey.

“When it comes to my music, I am always chronicling what is going on in my life, the entire creative process; nevertheless, when Covid struck, I was unable to spend much time with her. Most people do not get that I also require justice for my family. I wish for things to reach a conclusion.

“It’s a tragedy, but I’m a fighter and I believe in God,” she said.

He also addressed the allegations of abuse and the images that were circulating at the time of Tembe’s death.

“That was one of those times when you lose your temper and damage things, but I did not assault Anele.

Where is the evidence, gentlemen? All you are seeing is a broken door, and it doesn’t look good on me at all. I accept that. “This is not my finest hour,” he stated.

AKA concluded the performance by stating, “Let the album drop, and I will be back.”
